http://www.thejetsblog.com/2008/10/23/thursday-practice-notes/ So why is this dude our team doctor??? I'm absolutely pissed to read this. Get this goon outta here. edit: Shit - this came from thejetsblog.com, not the boland blog. Sorry about that.
I have said this over and over and over and over again. This guy is an embarrassment and needs to be fired immediately. I have a few concussions from hockey and anyone that says there is no cumulative effect is a fucking retard. I would love to slam his head with a baseball bat a few dozen times and see if he then tells me there was no cumulative effect when he is knocked loopy.
I don't remember reading about this before so I must have overlooked your posts. I am furious to read this. Toon, Chrebet, now Coles because this schmuck doesn't take concussions seriously and makes a point to let everyone know about it. Do we keep him on BECAUSE he let's these guys play?? Fuck him. I've had 4 myself - 2 from football, one from snowboarding, and 1 from a large rock landing on my head (long story). The last one I had I don't remember the rest of the night. I gave up snowboarding because of it.
And the bad decision making continues... I would love to walk around the Jets offices and just see what the collective culture is like inside that place. Is it really a place where failure is the option? I need to know why these actions continue to plague this team year in and year out.
It sounds like this dick has been around since the 80's. How does such incompetence stick around for so long through ownership change and through regime changes? Fuck.
It must be politics. Its the only thing that I can think of. Many owners understand that they don't need a winning team to make tons of money, but I'd imagine they'd want a competent doctor to protect the highest paid personnel on the payroll, not to mention the reason why the revenue is generated in the first place. Its a depressing business when its run like this. Those of us who are college kids should really band together and infiltrate the franchise, take it over and run it the way it should be run..., or get fired trying, go to a team that would listen, and create a dynasty..... Its football related stories like these that make me think Belichick resigning after one day means he knew how inept this franchise really is.
He has been. To be fair my comments were in the old concussion threads when I was first posting here. I had seen this fuckwads opinions in several articles on the Bloomberg (the very one that made NY mayor a billionaire) machine I use at work. The Dr.'s with real head trauma experience we aghast how this idiot can come up with an opinion that continued concussions/head trauma does not have a cumulative effect. Seriously, the other DR's, the real experts in head injury, were basically scratching their heads saying WTF? There were also omissions/lies on Pellman's resume mentioned in said article and to be honest, I thought he was fired. I never realized this lying POS was still a team Dr. Pellman is a complete utter joke. If I was owner he would be fired without question. Up until last year the NFL's policy toward concussions was a complete joke. Any guesses as to who ran it then? I mean even leagues like the NHL take concussions really really serious and don't let players sniff the ice if they are not medically cleared by a head injury expert I can make a list of hockey players where this has been the case for the last 10 years. To be honest I think the NFL is about 10-15 years behind here and pretty much negligent/libel with regards towards players health having an utterly unqualified jackass like Pellman in charge of their head trauma committee.
Some articles/blogs exposing Pellman: Blog exposing Pellman Long thorough read on Pellman's incompetence and his malfeasance with regard to letting Chrebet and others play when he was completely fucked up Edit: Please under no circumstances read the 2nd. article if you are going to get pissed at a team Dr that destroyed some of your favorite Jets careers............... you will have a stroke.
I'm down. Football politics suck, but theres Jets fans who are young and not so fuckin....cynical about the team. We are in the Age of the Internetz.
I don't understand how a doctor that was too dumb to get into medical school in the USA, has to go to Mexico to get a "medical" degree and then lies about his education can possibly become the team doctor for an NFL team.... It is just too ridiculous to imagine.
I've never seen as many scathing articles about any team doctor as I've seen about Elliot Pellman. The man is a flat out liar and a fool. I remember 3-4 years ago reading an article in the NY Times about him lying about his credentials and his accomplishments in the medical community. He claimed he graduated from SUNY Stony Brook when he only actualy graduated from a university in Greneda or some such island (began his studies at Stony Brook and transfered to a much less academicaly descriminatory school), he lied about various fellowships that he maintained and he is by far the most underqualified and untrustworthy doctor to be researching concussions. He let Cherebet, Coles, and a whole host of other athletes play who never should have seen the field after suffering concussions and his work has been criticised heavily in the medical world as well as ESPN (when the NFL's own c*ck sucking buddy attacks you, you know you're in trouble). I can't remember any of the articles and if anyone can remember/find them that would be of a great help to me. It should only take a little bit of research to uncover this but I'm too tired and drunk to do it myself at this hour. If I remember tomorrow I'll try and get the literature out there. The point is that this guy has never deserved his post as the team's head doctor and I've hated the Jets and Woody for keeping this guy around. He has to be the greatest example of cronieism in the league to be so widely disputed yet still maintain a job at such a high level.
no, I want the real thing... Contracts, Draft, year round scouting, press conferences, the pressure involved year in and year out... I want it all.
http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/article/92818 This guy is a total scumbag of the highest order, and it makes me feel bad about the things I said about John Abraham when he sat out of the playoffs, because he was cleared by team doctors then, too. This is the same guy that put Chad on the field when his arm clearly wasn't healed, and let Curtis Martin's legs fall apart in his twilight. I'm not saying that football should go all pussy and not make the players play with pain, but people that say old school football was tougher, in the old school they didn't have the sports medicine we do now. It has improved by leaps and bounds and things that didn't seem like they could have long-term debilitating effects are now signs of alarm. We need better minds than this slug looking after the team. I know he's probably just a symptom of the problem, but he's an ugly symptom.
I'm baffled as to what that problem might be considering this guy has made it through multiple regime changes and an ownership change. How does that happen?
That is a stone you should not throw. Getting into medical school in the US is EXTREMELY competitive. Many US citizens go abroad to medical school.
