And what sort of compensation do we get for him? I mean, Leon will be resigned, Shonn Greene is in the house, Jones has already expressed his unhappiness. We hold leverage, so we COULD hold onto him this year, just until we're sure Shonn Greene is legit, but my guess is Jones is traded for a veteran DL to... and that's where I run into problems. Thoughts?

A couple yards behind Mark Sanchez.

Trade him in exchange for some WR help, that is all I care for.

Absolutely Ridiculous that we drafted a RB when the LEADING rusher in the NFL is on our team.

Washington has never been the primary back of the team, Shonn Greene played just one excellent year in college and we might have a rookie QB stepping in right away (although I hope Clemens starts the first games).. I think for this year keeping the leading rusher is a good idea.. even only for the experience he brings... (i know i thought it differently a couple of hours ago but i changed my mind)

ryan is going to want to run it A LOT, now even more with a rookie QB

he's the fresh legs, he's depth, he's the future

    A. TJ led the AFC not the NFL in rushing.
    B. He's old and bitching about money.

We need the depth to run the ball in this offense. Baltimore had their top 2 backs get hurt last year and then McClane had to carry the load. We can't risk that happening to a journeyman RB. He also gives us a back to pair with leon when TJ leaves.

well the greene pick was a message to jones in a way, and also jones is 31 and most rb's dont age well at all usually by 30 there done, and leon is not a feature back so greene could play a situational role this yr and then move into the starting role in a yr or 2

It's how you tell him to go fuck himself when he stays out of camp demanding more money. Now he won't get the money and he will be out of the game in two years too.

Exactly. You need people with talent to catch the football, not the computer generated receivers you are obviously used to.

LOL that's comical...now (god forbid) if Jones gets hurt and we only have Washington on the roster I bet you'll be the first to scream "WAH WAH WAH WE SHOULD HAVE DRAFTED A RB WAH WAH". Oh and FYI, Jones has a huge cap number in 2010 which means he won't back. BTW, the AFC's leading rusher is 31.

Just out of curiosity, what WR's would you have wanted us to target today? Do you really think WR's we could have drafted today that would have been better than who we have on our roster already?

As I said in the other thread, this was a great pick:

Look at what the Ravens did last year with a great D, a rookie QB, and 3 RBs: a power guy (McClain, or our Greene), an older but still very productive veteran coming off a huge year (McGahee, or our Jones), and a young speed guy (Rice, or our Leon). Their D last year was better than ours will probably be this year, but Sanchez is better than Flacco.

Shonn Greene is a monster, and him and Leon are gonna an awesome thunder/lightning combo in years to come.

I don't know if I'd jump that far, I certainly hope he is though. I wasn't for drafting Sanchez, but he's the guy now and I hope he does well. Hopefully he proves to be the franchise QB a lot of people think he is.

Why? Don't you think the Ravens are thrilled they drafted Rice after McGahee ran for 1200 yards the year before? And don't you think the Browns regret not taking a young back in the 08 draft to spell Jamal Lewis even though he had 1300 yards the year before? Face it, RBs just hit a wall when they hit a certain age/number of carries. It happened to Edge, Shaun Alexander, even the great LT last year. So I'm glad we planned in advance so that if TJ's performance falls off this year, we'll be prepared.

TJ will never lead the AFC in rushing again. He will never match his 2008 performance.

I disagree. The Dolphins won the division with Ted Ginn and Devon Bess as their starting WRs. The Ravens went 11-5 with Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton. The Titans went 13-3 with Justin Gage and Brandon Jones. The Giants went 12-4 with Dominic Hixon and Amani Toomer. The Vikings went 10-6 with Bernard Berrian and Sydney Rice. And the Jets WRs are better than or at least equal too all those duos.
