After today, Thomas Jones is now 4th in the NFL in rushing with 1,167 yards, behind only Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson and Steven Jackson. He started the day at 5th, but today he surpassed Maurice Jones-Drew. Jones is the 2nd leading rusher in the AFC. Only LaDainian Tomlinson has posted more rushing yards in the NFL over the past five years. Last week he passed the 1,000 yard mark for the fifth consecutive year, and he has the 30th most career rushing yards in NFL history.

    I appreciate you, Thomas.

I've said this before......Thomas Jones is one of the best conditioned NFL players. TJ is all business and takes his job serious. Not an excitiing RB like some...goes about his business to get the job done. Gotta keeping giving him the ball, every 12th to 15th run, he breaks a Big one.

Like fine wine is getting better with age and as the game goes on.

Thomas Jones and Sir Darrelle Revis are the only reason we still have a shot at the playoffs.

He reminds me of Curtis Martin... Glad we have him.

And the second he has a bad game the threads about him going down on first contact and not hitting the hole hard enough will start up again.

I have been calling TJ C-Mart lite for nearly 2 years now. More and more people seem to be catching on to this as this year goes on.

Its about his preparation in that he works himself harder than almost anybody else in the league. It's about how he is in better shape at 31 than half the opposing defenders who are younger than him. It's about his running style being about getting the solid 4 yards a carry, always finding a way to fall forward and pick up an extra foot or more. It's about going forever and a day in between fumbles. It's about how he needs holes the size of a mack truck to rip off 40 yarders, but he always finds the tough yards when we need them.

Is he explosive like chris johnson? nope, is he as powerful as Adrian Peterson? Nope. Is he as dominant as LT was in his prime? Hell no. But guess what the guy does all of the little things right, he keeps plowing forward, and has gained more rushing yards the last half a decade than anyone other than sure-fire hall of famer Ladainian Tomlinson.

Oh and he seems to have found a way to break a few of Curtis' records along the way as well.

Jones is the perect guy to have blessed the Jets with taking over for Curtis. And I personally wouldnt have it any other way.

He's also excellent in blitz pickup.

Send TJ back to the pro bowl

Fuckin right it doesn't, hence my knew signature. He's the 2nd best RB in the NFL right now. I don't wanna hear anything different, Stats speak for themselves.

I actually think I get it. In an age where we glorify the explosive i.e. chris johnson or adrian peterson and the strong I.e. maurice jonesdrew and steven jackson, jones is simply a workhorse. He's not going to wow you on a play by play basis, like the other guys, but in terms of production, he's right there. We don't tend to mention tj amogst the great rbs in the nfl, but he actually is there.

People used to say similar things about Curtis the summer before he won the NFL rushing title at I believe 30 years of age.

People tried to argue that Curtis isn't Hall of Fame worthy because he wasn't flashy and dynamic. They tried to discount his stats 4th in NFL history in rushing yards, way up there in career YPC, and the oldest player ever to win an NFL rushing title, among the million other stats that Curtis has to his name.

TJ is doing the same things Curtis used to until Herm ran him into the ground. I expect TJ to put up solid-elite numbers next year as well, but he will start to wear down towards the end of next season while a young back starts to take some of his carries later in the year to keep him fresh. I think it would be perfect to have him back for one more year to help him influence Shonn Greene and we can honestly evaluate how Leon returns from his broken tibia before we need to move on from TJ who has been nothing less than stellar for us.

no flash, no espn highlights... that means 85% of "football fans" dont really even know who he is.

it will all turn to shit around here for thomas jones when at the end of the season he says... i have led the afc in rushing the past 2 years and been over 1500 yards for both of them. i would like a decent contract to end my career.... at that point everyone in here will call him an over the hill scumbag who isnt necessary because shonn fumble green is here and he is fresh and new. they will tell you he is a dick for putting "us" in this predicament. they will say how anyone could run behind our awesome offensive line which includes the GREATEST center of all time nick "i left ball hair in ganggreen posters teeth" mangold.

there will even be those who say we dont need him and dont need to pay him because that wooddick midget can pick up the load.

and in reality its going to be tough to sign him to a deal that he will be interested in after this year. so enjoy it while it lasts it may be the last few weeks you get to watch tj, who i may add has been our workhorse.

I think he's earned his big payday this season, I'm so glad we didn't trade him away like many here suggested we should

I was at the front of the line to bash him early in the season. I am sorry.
