I don't know maybe there was once another NFL team that played their games in Tennessee and the Jets played them four times in Tennessee. In the NY Daily News picks section they have a section called 'this week's trends to consider': Jets are 1-3 ATS in their last 4 games in Tennessee. Huh? I remember the Jets beating the Titans when they were still the Oilers on the road in 1998. Beat them again at home in 2003.
That's right, which really has nothing to do with the team outside of maybe falling short of expectations?
He also trashed the team in his weekly picks. First & Ten The 10 Best Games to Bet Jets at Titans 1 p.m. Ch. 2. Titans by 2-1/2, 35-1/2 VITAL SIGNS: Jets: CB David Barrett (leg) and WR Tim Dwight (leg) are questionable. LB Matt Chatham (leg) and G Pete Kendall (leg) are probable. Titans: TE Erron Kinney (knee) and DE Antwan Odom (knee) are out. WR David Givens (hamstring), RB LenDale White (ankle) and S Lamont Thompson (ankle) are questionable. JIM DANDIES: The first pick in the 2007 NFL draft. That's all Jets fans have to look forward to. And this week should be a solid start toward securing that top spot. Gang Green's outlook is bleak. RB Kevan Barlow has rushed for only 1,403 yards in 27 games since his career season in 2003 when he compiled 1,024 yards in 16 games for the Niners. Cedric Houston averaged 3.7 yards per carry in his rookie campaign last season and is little more than a third-down back. Chad Pennington's weak arm will be consistently exploited like never before. Even with former Giants QB Kerry Collins at the helm, the Titans aren't much better than the Jets. Still, they should have an easy time getting one of their few wins of the season. IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Titans and the under.
It's a mistake of some sort. The Jets are 2-0 against the spread in their last two games against that team. In 2003 they were getting 3 points and they won 24-17. In 1998 against the Tennessee Oilers, the Jets won 24-3. Prior to that they lost to the Houston Oilers 35-10 at home in 1996 and they lost 23-6 in Houston in 1995. They've only played one regular season game in Tennessee, which is the same number of games they have played in Alabama and South Carolina.
