http://thejetsblog.com/bga/bga-scouting-antwan-barnes/ Pretty good article about our newest OLB. Seems like he should produce fairly well. I was impressed with how they wrote that he's not as bad a run stopper as some of us may think. I'm on my phone so I can't quote the article onto here.
And just think, we are most likely going to go into next season with 2. Barnes coupled with Jarvis Jones would be scary good
If he produces as he has and maybe even improve under Rex, pair him up with Coples, Wilkerson, and hopefully that beast in your avatar. It would be scary for other teams.
If we can get some solid OLB play with pass rush ability it really could get nasty. Wilkerson and Coples can set a hard edge, these two look like the next big thing.
You keep saying this, but there is no chance in hell that we can get Jordan and Jones with the two picks. IMPOSSIBLE
McIntyre is pretty solid too, if we get Jarvis Jones, we may actually have a solid core of pass rushers.
There is a reason this guy has bounced from team to team and has struggled to lock down a starter position. I don't expect him to be much more than a stop gap player and I'll be happy if he's capable of starting for a season or two which would be more than he's managed to accomplish so far in his career. I'm hardly expecting big things from him.
Possible if and only if Jets net 1st this year. Compared to what's already on the table (2 this year + 1/2 next year) that's lesser deal in my eyes. (Draft is like a lottery ticket after all.) And as Lotulelei shot up the board again (so did Jarvis Jones) it's very likely for the Jets to grab the blue chip OLB (that falls on their laps) in 1st round, then fill other needs. If Jets get good OLB value this year, and then next year (they will have 2x 1st) that wouldn't be too bad either.
He is talking about drafting Dion Jordan and Jarvis Jones if we had Tampa Bay's pick in 2013. So you're telling me one, Dion Jordan will fall to #9, two, Jarvis Jones would fall to #13, three, we would draft both without filling our other needs. That' basically what he is saying
Just like my sig says, if we don't get a starting QB out of a Revis trade then it's just a bust. We've had the best D in the NFL with the #1 rushing attack and look where it got us. You can't go anywhere without a QB especially now with all the rule changes.
While I agree in principal I don't think it's necessarily the case that it has to be for the start of the 2013-2014 season. This year's QB class doesn't seem all that exciting but next year might have a few good ones. So if we're getting a first or a few pieces to help trade up to get a top QB next year that's still a successful trade IMO.
I would love a QB but we can't guarantee Bridgewater by trading Revis now, so I'm not sure what you're advocating for.
Good article. Hopefully he works out. I'd love to see a Jets Rex defense with a true pass rusher. All for taking one in the first round also.
