Yeah, this is it. Keep tabs here, all the trash and second guessing. Bortles. Manziel. Bridgewater. Carr. McCarron. Mettenberger. Murray. Fales. Boyd. Savage. Wenning. Morris. Gotta say, watching the Pats-Skins game and Garoppolo looks pretty damn good. The guy looks in control, nice arm, accurate. Flame on. _
I agree. I was high as fuck on Gorappolo and although he's had a tough camp, he looked pretty awesome yesterday.
Garoppolo 9-13 157 yards 1 TD 0 INTs Bortles 7-11 117 yards 0 TD 0 INTs Morris 1-1 10 yards 0 TD 0 INTs Fales 5-7 68 yards 0 TD 1 INT Bridgewater 6-13 49 yards 0 TD 0 INTs Carr 10-16 74 yards 0 TD 1 INT Doesn't appear McCarron (Cinncy), Murray (KC) or Wenning (Balt) played. Obviously Boyd didn't. Tonite you've got Manziel, Mettenberger (Tenn), Savage (Hous). _
Btw, in a shocking development, the NFL Network will be airing the Browns-Lions game tonite. I am shocked I tell you. Shocked. _
Looks like my boy Bortles is in good hands - Jags had better sit the kid this year. And he showed a lot too. By the time the team is done restocking the roster, he'd be ready to take off.
David Fales, other than the INT, looks pretty good. Very accurate, quick release, has good command of the offense. Looks the part of an NFL QB. Taking snaps from under center, looks comfortable. Btw, another rookie QB converted to RB Jordan Lynch looks like a solid, hard nosed RB. Does not look like a former QB. _
I'm not sure if anyone made videos like this for the other rookie QB's. Garoppolo looked damned good, granted, playing against 2's and 3's and 4's. Tym's is a receiver to watch the waiver wire for too, I think he played himself out of practice squad potential in this one game alone. I only saw one true overthrow in the back corner of the endzone, the last play I believe. The "overthrow" on #29, Roy Finch, to me had more to do with Finch being about 5'6" and any normal NFL player would have hauled that in pretty easily. I'm interested to see other rookie QB's playing, especially the projected starters, or those competing to start. Edit: I also saw no reason to not award the first TD to Tym's crazy endzone catch other than lack of camera angles and it initially being ruled incomplete. Looked like a TD to me.
Yeah he looked pretty damn good. His TD was a beauty and the couple of throws before that were darts. Looks pretty accurate and looks like he has a very quick release. Man I hope the Pats haven't found Brady's eventual replacement that easily. _
I have no issue being hopeful for his future after seeing that game, but it's just that game, some fans over at our Pats forums are already declaring him the #2, where as I'm hoping he outplays Mallet to become the #2. You can tell people have really missed football when 1 preseason game brings these reactions out, haha.
I don't think he's nearly the best but he's going to be very good. Smart, accurate, quick release, just doesn't have a howitzer but he can make most of the throws. His anticipation will make up for his arm. Would have loved if we'd taken him. _
Well I looked at the thread, your stance has remained the same. There were a lot of David Fales trolls, haters, and naysayers on this forum though.
My stance is always the same. The only QBs I didn't like this year were Thomas (I don't think he's any good) and Savage because I hadn't seen him since Rutgers. There were literally 10 guys I would have taken this year. The Fales game that put me over the top was his game against Carr. Fales was smart, super quick release and accurate, total command of that offense. He's going to be a very good NFL QB IMHO. And yes, there were a bunch of haters mostly because of his arm. But when you can read defenses, are smart, accurate and can anticipate, that far outweighs the lack of a rocket arm. _
When you look at the guys we took rounds 5 on, there were 5 QBs I would rather have taken than any of them. _
