For multiple reasons, I'm glad we are not at 1. But for the sake of fun, I think I would go C Long.

Even with the 1st pick in the draft I would still target Darren McFadden.

Chris Long would be nice, but it isn't a sure thing that he succeeds in the 3-4 defense on the NFL level.

Gholston is one of my favorite players in the draft, but he isn't the all round player you are looking for when you select #1. He will be able to get after to QB for sure, but can he drop back in coverage?

Jake Long will be a solid NFL player and should be able to play at a high level for a long time. Of all the players in the top 5...he and DMC are the ones I would consider #1 overall.

Darren McFadden is the ultimate weapon. He can run, catch, throw and block.

He has proven he can carry the load throughout a game/season.

He played in one of the toughest conferences, if not the most tough conference in all of college football. Not only did he play against that tough conference, but he ripped it apart. His finest game came against South Caroline when he ran for 321 yards.

He is the kind of player that absolutely will garner attention at all times on the field in the NFL.

Chris Long. He provides the most value in terms of talent + need for us. McFadden's a close second though.

I would say McFadden because plain and simple, i think he is the best player in the draft. Chris Long is a very close second however

Darren McFadden, even though we already have a few good running back's, his game changing ability is very rare and he would be a great addition to the team.

I'll be happy if we get any of these guys though. I just think it would be awesome to have a Merriman/Demarcus Ware type person on defense.

Dead even between Chris Long and McFadden. I think everybody would be pretty happy if we managed to get either one of them. I would.

If we get either of these guys I'm going to be well happy. I voted Chris long only because there is no downside to him, a real stud. DMC is a game breaker but if if he can't handle the superstar baggage I can see him implode. In mangini we trust.

Rare, don't you mean inferior to A Peterson last year and R Bush the year before that and S Jackson before that and we can go back LT if you want.

Point is a top RB and usually 2 or 3 come out each year and this years top back in DMC is not as good as the number one guys the last two years, especially AP.

So I disagree with your very rare statement, these guys come out every year and most of the time appear going into the draft to have a better upside and potential than DMC does currently.

Which is why we need to go Long, Gholston or trade down in that order, we are set at RB.

My thought exactly, but I think Long and Gholston will both be gone by our pick.

If any of those guys are available I go with what's probably the biggest "sure thing" in the group of top guys, Jake Long...

If we played a 4-3, I would say Glen Dorsey, hands down. We don't so I'd have to go with Chris Long.

    Pick

The more I am reading the more I believe the top 5 will work out as follows:

    1 - Jake Long
    2 - Glenn Dorsey
    3 - Sedrick Ellis
    4 - Gholston/McFadden
    5 - Albert/Clady
    6 - Chris Long

So no Ryan and yet we still have the choice between Long and either Mcfadden/Gholston. In that scenario, I believe that Long should be the pick.

Between Gholston and McFadden I am much more in favor of DMC, as I have seen him play at least 20 times and the kid is everything we don't have; game breaking speed, explosiveness, and a true game changer. I would not be unhappy w/ Gholston but I believe his bust potential is a bit higher than that of the other top picks.
