I am doubtful...when the number of hits/sacks goes up, the odds of suffering cumulative beating injuries or the one injury that knocks you out for the year increases. I think back to Joe Namath or even Richard Todd having his clavicle broken by Dave Butz in 1978. Only surprise to me would be if the injury happens on a broken play from either Mangold or D'Brick. If Sanchez is hurt on a misplay by Hunter, you have to think that MT is going to be in fear of losing his job from Woody. I hope Sanchez plays all 16 games, but I fear this could be the year when a struggling young QB looking for a 'breakout' season gets hurt instead.
while he does appear to be able to take a hit - i do think he is somewhat injury prone. there certainly will be a time this year when he comes out and tebow goes in - due to some sort of injury, whether temporary or not. it will be very interesting to see fan reaction.
If I am wrong and Sanchez plays all 16, I will gladly buy any of you guys a beer -- on me !! -- in celebration. Believe me, I want this thread to look ridiculous in retrospect 4 months from now but I really am worried about Sanchez getting hurt and missing the season this year. Wayne Hunter is not even a competent backup. You can have 4 All-Pros on the OL but if you have 1 sieve, your QB is in danger. How many games did Peyton Manning miss in 13 years ??? And when he got hurt, look what happened.
IF he does get hurt who, really, do you put in? Tebow or McElroy. The Jets cannot run their offense with Tebow. I mean...yes it was only pre-season but it appears that his favorite receiver is the dirt. Ground and pound won't work if there is no threat of a passing game. They'll just load up and smack us around. Having said that, the odds do NOT look good for M.S. to finish the season with 16 started games.
I have faith that the Jets FO isn't so stupid as to allow this EZPass atrocity to carry on. Sanchez was very smart to bulk up this offseason.
You don't develop a team through the draft by cutting your draft picks when they suck their first two years. There are plenty of rookies who start slow who come on later in their career. Our very own Bryan Thomas is one of them!
It happened last year even though Sanchez played all 16, he played hurt for the last 4+ games, hopefully it won't happen again. Our line issues last year certainly weren't limited to Hunter, so if this year they are, it will be an improvement. I seriously doubt that Tanny isn't concerned about it. We brought in Otag for a reason. I'm sure they are still trying to work something out. It's always easier said than done. Hunter did look bad last game but he was coming off injury and facing JPP. I say Hunter has one last game to prove himself. If he doesn't look even somewhat decent in the next game, it will be addressed and moves will be made. Which Vlad have you been watching? He's more than a legit backup, he's improved by leaps and bounds this year. Look at LongtimeJetsFan's spotlight post on Ducasse. I think he'll be starting by mid season, maybe for Moore, maybe for Slauson (IF Slauson goes to tackle).
