Because of Mark Sanchez the Jets are exciting to watch again. Not the 'one year' kinda deal we had last year; but this season is REAL, REAL interesting. Win or lose, better or worse, Jet fan & hater, the Jets will be a ratings and crowd draw. The PRESEASON game vs the Ravens drew in a full house. I don't know if that is usually the case with the Ravens. The Crowd was LOUD and really into it. Ravens coach (I forget his name), was asked if this was the greatest pre-season game he'd ever seen or been a part of. He said yes. I have friends who aren't even NFL fans tune in to watch Sanchez. He is the topic of many threads on opposing teams message boards. At 'www.finheaven.com/forums' there were two threads at least 15 pages long about Sanchez; Proving that haters will tune in to see if/wish that he'll fail. Same thing with Patsfans.com's forums. It feels different than the Favre buzz for me (mainly because I was in Iraq) because it's not a temporary solution. Anyone else experience this? -By the way...anyone know any good Houston Texans Message boards?
He is the one rookie that everyone is talking about, thats for sure. He is on HEY ROOKIE, Welcome to the NFL, an NFL Films show airing on ESPN2 tonight at 11pm est. On the show it talks about what he was thinking when he got drafted, and just how he is handling the overall rookie experience. it looks pretty cool.
Yeah I guess... but I think it has something to do with his name being Mark Sanchez and not Matt Smith or something like that... the NFL wants to step in the hispanic-american market to make some extra $$$...
whenever hispanic heritage month rolls around, the NFL does a lot to market themselves towards them. I can imagine Sanchez will be all over the place.
all I know is that everyone said the Jets were boring with Chad Pennington dinking and dunking. Curtis Martin running effectively but he wasn't very flashy nor super fast. No big time explosive players. We did have Santana Moss for a few years. Last year I remember people saying they weren't interested in the Jets until Favre signed. I'd like to keep it that way with Sanchez. The only thing I hope is that Sanchez doesn't become an ESPN favorite like Favre or one of their favorite people. It gets me sick!
I love this line from the Texans board: No. I stated on the Sanchez starting thread that this sort of thing happens to us because we are a Houston team. Being a darksider isn't exclusive to Jets fans.
What's beautiful is that now the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB all have their own channels, so you don't need to sit through bad comedy hour to get your highlights. Sticks it right in Stuart Scott's lazy eye. (almost chose that for my screen name, actually)
The Jets are an exciting team, because they are willing to make moves for high profile people. Bringing Brett Favre to the Jets, from a marketing standpoint, was a thing of genius. And the same goes for moving up to the number 5 spot to grab Mark Sanchez, the one college player that had a huge spotlight on him prior to the draft. And maybe soon they'll have Marshall. It's just like the Yankees bringing in C.C., Burnett and Tex. The Giants, even though they have/had a better team, no longer own the NY media. Wins or no wins, the Jets are the team to watch. Next stop, *hopefully*, the Knicks and LeBron James
I don't understand this thread. Dolphins fans will talk about other teams moves such as the Jets because the Jets are in the same division, same as Pats fans. It is just par for the course. That being said, if the OP is excited and other Jets fans as well they have reason to be, to see if the Jets finally have a franchise QB.
Sorry, it had better be wins. I don't care about the media stuff, I just want to see the Jets win. If they 1-15 and the Giants win the Super Bowl, do you still think it will be "win or lose"?
Well, I like the wins too. But personally, I'd rather win with a loud and brash Rex Ryan than a timid Eric Mangini any day
