http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/08/21/jets-say-theyre-not-looking-to-replace-wayne-hunter/ Do you guys buy this?
No. I think the Jets may secretly do something, but I have a feeling they won't. This season is dead.
lol, they already DID with Otah. But that fell through. They are absolutely 100% trying to replace Hunter...that or trying to get mark sanchez murdered literally
This is the type of shit the jets usually say right before they replace someone. It's the kiss of death.
They put this out there to provide some semblance of leverage in a trade. If they make it known they are desperate for a deal, every team will try and fleece them, and the Jets will either pay out the nose, or get nothing done. By saying they are prepared to stand pat, they can try and strike somewhat of a reasonable deal. They will still have to overpay imo, but its possible this helps keep the asking price down at least a little.
and yeah this too. It was like 4 days after Tanny said something almost identical about Kerry Rhodes that he was traded to Zona.
They say this just in case they can't get a replacement so they don't have to say later well shit I guess we will use Hunter.
If they dont replace him, someone will be replacing them next year so they better be on this shit. I have no clue why they wouldnt be. Every human being who watched that game Sunday (along with every game last year) saw the pile of shit we have at RT.
Of course they're trying to replace Hunter -- if they weren't, then they wouldn't have traded for Otah. They very well may fail to replace him, but they're definitely looking.
they absolutely are, this is 100% a smokescreen. announcing you are looking to replace him will only drive up the asking price and accomplish absolutely nothing toward actually replacing him.
this. whenever they make a point to say someone is staying or will not be replaced, the opposite always happens and bc of the reason i cited above.
There's no way any team in the league that has even the slightest hopes of making the playoffs isn't trying to upgrade at their weakest position. Especially a team with deep pockets like the Jets.
