Superstitious anyone? I am a bit. Every year I start a new routine. Past years have been only washing jerseys after a loss, wearing jerseys of retired players, and drinking only 1 type of beer. Well, this year I started a new one. I vacuum and polish the hardwood floors in the den and then take a shower before the game. 3-0 record when I do this. Vs the saints I skipped the den cleaning. Vs the Dolphins I skipped both. I know this seems mental, but in the back of my demented head, I feel I am to blame. Anyone else have stupid routines?
I dont have any routines but when ever i watch a game i always have that kind of mind of matter mentality and believe that if you will something enough it will manifest, so whenever the jets lose i feel like i lacked some kind of mental focus and belief, and yes, i bear some of the guilt for these losses. So you heard it, you can hold me accountable too.
yeah...i never bet on Jets games....especially for them to win.....because they lose every time when i lay some coin down. Well...i bet on them this past monday.....first time in about 4 years. I'm here for my stoning.
What a jerk. I knew you had something to do with it. But no, I don't have any kind of routines or activities that I do pre-game. I'm not nearly ego-centric enough to think that my insignificant, completely unrelated minor actions (or lack thereof) could possibly have any effect on a game tens, hundreds, or thousands of miles away. Sorry to take the fun out of it
I wore a jets shirt/jersey while watching the first three games, but got lazy for the last two. I even realized it after the loss to the saints, but i brushed it aside. I'll definitely be wearing green from here on out.
I drink a coffe and kalua. Wear the same Jets hat. The same Jets jersey (Jones #20) The same green Jets under shirt and the same jeans. I did not have C&K before the NO game and went to the Martin #28 jersey for the fins game. It is a little mental but I feel the same way. I kept thinking to myself "Am I responsible for the losses". At the end of the day we the fans do not cause any team to lose. With that said clean the den and take a shower you don't need that weight on your shoulders.
the first 3 games I watched in my dorm at college in boston. I watched the saints game when i went back to ny and they lost and then for the fins game I watched the first half in my dorm (they were winning) they I had a intramural flag football game so i couldnt watch the end and they lost...
I'm with you on this one it's like I didn't try hard enough and it's always worse after close games :shit: I guess :-(
I bear some responsibility as well. I did NOT wear Jets boxers for the first 3 games, but I did for the last two. I really need to do laundry.
I smoke. Like a chimney. I have a cigarette at every commercial break. Smoked my last two during halftime, refused to go to the corner store to get more during the second half. I guess that's more of a debilitating addiction than a superstition, but I'll take my share of the blame. Went through half a pack afterward trying to cope with the loss, so that should buy us some good luck come Buffalo.
I hear that if you vacuum and polish someone else's hardwood floors, we win the Super Bowl. Let me know if you want my address.
i get a gut feeling around thursday of how the jets are going to do. if i get no "butterfly feeling" its an easy win. A strong one is a definite loss, and a quick bout of nerves is usually a toss up. I got a quick bout of nerves last week, so i picked this as a win - I was wrong. I got a quick bout of nerves against the Pats last year, and that game was on thursday and was a win. The Titans game last year - no feeling what so ever. I even created the thread that said the Titans were a beatable team. The thursday before the Saints, I felt like i got punched in the stomach. I have a feeling I'll get no butterfly feeling tomorrow.
