I don't know about anyone else, but I've been at work for only 40 minutes so far and I've already had 3 people come up to me and say... "you know they just got lucky... right?". In the past, this probably would've pissed me off and had me get into a back and forth that would've ended up being pointless and resulting in absolutely nothing changing... but now... now I think this is not only hilarious, but awesome. Look on Finheaven... look on many other message boards for teams around the league... they're singing the same tune... those Jets, f*** them... they're so lucky... When in our history have we ever had a run like this? So many games in a row where it comes down to the very end like this. I'm loving it, and more then the fact that its happening, I'm loving just how much its pissing off fans of opposing teams. Teams don't get lucky without being good first. The Jets have been sloppy at times and inconsistent, but have the potential to be *great* and have shown it at least once every single time we've gotten "lucky" so far.
Ok, for the billionth time, how the hell were the Jets "lucky" yesterday???? The Jets thoroughly outplayed Cleveland from the line of scrimmage and had to endure and overcome THREE missed field goals (one of them five yards longer than an extra point) to hang on to win an emotional game in overtime.
it also doesnt get mentioned on ESPN either. They show the highlights and ignore the many missed kicks. Which of course is how everyone learns about the game if they didnt actually watch it.
I cursed so damn loud when Folk doinked that FG. Most frustrating moment of the season. Jets just had their best drive of the year, and had the chance to put Cleveland away early, and they come away with nothing. But by all means, keep calling us lucky.
Cleveland has been the place where Jet dreams went to die horribly so yeah, it certainly appears that our "luck" has changed. What people fail or refuse to realize is that luck is the residue of hard work and the Jets, man for man, were the better team yesterday. Lucky? Beats the hell out of unlucky. Just ask Miami about that. Lost two QB in the same game. Remember how that happened to us a few years ago? Funny, but in both cases, Pennington was involved. Cleveland is a team on the rise and we beat them. We won two OT games on the road in successive weeks. Something that's NEVER been done before in the history of the league. Will the media give us our due? Probably not and don't be surprised if you see NE #1 in the power rankings this week either even though we beat them straight up. Such is life as a Jet Fan. To the haters, we're 7-2 and not playing our best ball yet.
I agree with everyone that we're not winning through luck, I'm speaking to the perception of the Jets from the outside world. If this is "luck", then I'm all for it.
I don't know how lucky we are but we are the only undefeated team on the road and to me that's pretty damn good. :metal:
Yes, the Jets were lucky last week because the Lions missed an extra point early in the 3rd quarter. This week the Jets miss 3 FG's, one of them in OT, and they are still lucky some how. Do people forget that the Browns just clobbered the Patriots? What exactly was lucky about that win anyway? The fact that Coleman stripped Stucky? What was the "luck" for the Jets? Jealousy is an ugly trait.
When the Jets win by the narrowest of margins its Luck.. When we beat teams like Buffalo 38-0 its Luck.. When we win the SB this year it's Luck.. Well fuck them
A friend once told me..."Do you know how to get lucky?" ..."Through hard work! The harder you work the luckier you get." The Jets are working hard.
On my campus of Kean University, I'm repping my Sanchez jersey, and already was yelled at about the "lucky" part. It's too early in the morning to talk shit, so I just laughed it offf, because at the end of the season, we'll have the last laugh!
After coping w/ the good fortunes of the 80's dolphins, 90's bills and the new millenium Pats.. all in our division...It's about time the jets got a few bounces.
Apparently luck is dominating the entire 2nd half, missing 3 field goals (one of which was a glorified extra point), and winning with less than a minute left in OT.
