Sorry if this has been mentioned, but it amazes me that somehow the Jets get downgraded for winning a game like we had against Houston. If the Pats had done the same thing there would be endless talk of their incredible resolve, and determination... and that great veteran leadership... and genius coaching etc... The Jets just got lucky after nearly blowing it. People were expecting us to have a statement game against a lesser opponent, this is a slap in the face to the Texans, who are clearly a better than average team. The Jets are a top team that is dealing well with adversity, and winning in spite of some of the obvious personnel shortcomings we have. I hope the lack of unbiased respect is what fuels the fire that motivates this team... there's plenty of it.
I'll take the respect when we shove the Lombardi trophy in the faces of every douche who doubted this team. You can't kill this team. This is the mentality I wanted since I've been living and dying with this team. I have it now and its not going away. Rex will be here for a long, long fucking time and this team is on the verge of being an elite team in the new era that is upon us in the NFL. These Jets will never panic in the face of adversity. In a league where any team can beat anyone, they will not allow themselves to be beaten down by anyone. Even their losses have been close as fuck. Keep disrespecting the team that never dies. They'll end up killing you.
I couldn't agree more with that post. Was thinking about that same thing when I was watching highlights and hearing radio hots, analysts etc breakdown the game. If this was Manning, Brady, Favre all you would hear is this is why these guys are special and shows how much they mean to their teams but with the jets its just another lucky win. People also forget to talk about that Houston has one of the worst Passing Defenses in the league when breaking down the last drive
I don't recall anyone FORGETTING that the Texans have the worst passing D in the league, they (announceers @ the NFL channel) especially made reference to this during the Jets final drive.
Spot on. It's much more fun being in the position we're in than being part of the sort of media-driven circle jerk that the Patriots get.
That's because as an organization the Jets for the most part are considered a joke, for sooo many years this organization has FAILED in every possible way or form, this last game was a prime example of that, some of you should go & re-read the game thread of this game when this team was giving the game away go & see the remarks that were made. The way for this team to get respect is to win convincingly not just eking out wins against inferior opponents. If this team "craves" recognition as an elite team then they MUST play like one. The reason the Pats would get praise for a win of this sort is because they have won championships (plural) this past decade, they ARE considered an elite team ALREADY & with that reputation they will ALWAYS be seen as a glass half full type of team, just like if Pittsburgh would have done it. If we win the next 3 games CONVINCINGLY I guarantee you we will be ranked #1 in the league...not that ranking really means anything, just give me the Lombardi Trophy then we'll know who's ranked #1.
They need to win the Superbowl. The doubters are already out there suspecting a playoff loss. The thing is, is if the Jets were to play consistent this wouldn't be. Plus they lost to very good teams. The bill fits at the moment. The Pats look polished as usual and like I said before are the team of the division until knocked off. December is going to be, I believe, one of the most enjoyable months of football that we as fans have had in a long while. Check the rankings in Jan for the full story....
Lucky AND good is a dangerous combination... Fuck respect. Let other teams think they can out lucky us.
This league is full of parity. Where literally anyone can beat anyone... 8-2 is the only thing that matters.
"The football team at my high school, they were tough. After they sacked the quarterback, they went after his family." - Thornton Melon
Fair points presented here. I clearly remember the Saints getting a few breaks last year along the way. Particularly against the Redskins. Teams need breaks to win, and have to be able to capatilize to win. Perhaps you need a 48 yard FG to win the Super Bowl, or an "immaculate reception", or "the Drive" or David Tyree. It does not matter, just win the fucking game.
