We need offensive playmakers. This kid is a playmaker and there are things about him like his instinct and awareness along with blocking that made him standout more then Eiffert. But Eiffert has the more atheletic ability and better hands. Other then that, this dude is legit, hes 6'6 250 pounds and will help whoever our QB is. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1594381-nfl-draft-2013-tyler-eifert-vs-zach-ertz-tale-of-the-tape Comparison of the two TE's ^
Apparently what makes Ertz standout the most in comparison to Eiffert to make up for some of the athletic ability is his great route running
I don't think he lasts to #39. If he does my bet is we'll pass on him because we elected to pass on Warmack in round one so we'll almost have to take Warfard in Round 2.
OG's can be had though...This is a two TE draft and there is no other WR that impresses me. Am I going to get excited about Jeff Cumberland catching balls for us? Im hoping for a run at safety, RB's and QB's...Its how we can get Ertz. Hes 7 picks away. Gotta believe man.
Quality offensive lineman can traditionally be found in the later rounds, more so than other positions. If the Jets don't get Ertz for Sanchez, they should get him for whoever they bring in later in the draft / next year.
I don't think he lasts until the 39 either. I think the Jets like him though. I'd like him any one of these guys if available at the the 39: Ertz, Menelik Watson (RT) or Geno. My worst fear is that they take a safety with this pick.
Ertz would be my guy and I like quite a few other WR's in the draft. I think Jordan Reed is another quality TE but after that......pfffftttt. We know the Bengals won't take Eifert and the Jags probably won't. I think the Eagles will pass with Celek on the roster. After that it's a crapshoot. 49ers Lions Cardinals
Agreed! If the 49'ERS pass (I don't think they will) then he can be ours and I would hope they pull the trigger. I just pray we do not draft a QB here. Keenan Allen would be a nice pick here as well.
Idk, I just dont see the love for him... I just dont think he has good hands. Reminds me of a taller Keller. It may be because I watched Eifert (who has some of the best hands Ive ever seen on a TE) and Ertz back to back though. Id rather grab Escobar or Kelce in the 3rd or 4th, thats just me.
Zach Ertz is rated #9 out of all the players in the draft over at prediction machine. I would love to draft him, he fills a huge need and would definitely be BPA at that point in my opinion. I don't think he falls to us though, which is a shame. Here's a link to prediction machine: http://predictionmachine.com/nfl-draft-2013-top-250-overall
IDK, Harbaugh hasn't really drafted any of his guys. It's a possibility but I think SF may look to add another WR. Let's remember they do have Vernon Davis on the roster. Granted different typs of TE but it's not exactly a need for the 49ers.
I think it depends on who's on the board, anyone of these players could (hope are the targets) Ertz Cyprien Warford Lacy (but the no trading for Ivory if this happens) Even WR's like Hunter or Woods who have a lot of potential
Travis Kelce can block pretty damn well. Ertz may not fall to us, so Kelce could be a target for us in the 3rd round (Jets were interested in him there).
I like Ertz because of our current need, he's appropriately rated near our draft slot & also the fact that I'm not a fan of the TE's behind him on the list (McDonald & Escobar).
