Our Problems All Begin With Teams Running All Over Us. The Offense Played Badly But They Have Shown What They Can Do. This Defense Has Shown Us Nothing. The Bottom Line Is That In A 3-4 Alignment, The Guys Up Front Have To Get A Push. Otherwise, U Cant Succeed. Loook At The Chargers Tonite. Did U See Jamal Williams? He Commanded Double Teams And Was Pushin 2 Linemen At A Time Backward. This Allowed His Linebackers To Move Freely And Make Plays. No Push Up Front, Then U Can Kiss This Defense Goodbye. 3-4 Is A Great D When U Have The Personnell Up Front. Guys Like Jamal Williams, Vince Wilfork, Richard Seymour, Casey Hampton.

You Should Have Put This In One Of The Other Threads Already On The Same Topic. It Has Been Discussed Over And Over Again After Pretty Much Every Game Of The Season. We Pretty Much All Agree With What You Said.

So do you pass on ever going to a 3-4 because the main guys on your defensive line are not suited to it or do you go out and teach the defense to the team and then go get the guys to run it?

I think Mangini is doing the right thing. If the Jets are ever going to win a super bowl while he is coaching them it is likely going to be because he put together a dominant defense. The guys on the line right now, with the possible exception of Shaun Ellis, are just not going to be around on that dominant defense. Staying in a 4-3 this year would be like wasting the first year of change to coddle Dewayne Robertson before you inevitably have to cut or trade him.
