Who is likely to get cut if we pick up other players off waivers?

It's hard to say. The Jets aren't particularly good at evaluating talent on the lower end of the curve. Who knows exactly who they really like and who is just taking up a roster spot in their minds until somebody better comes along?

Wouldn't be shocked if any of the following were cut:

Greg McElroy - Brian Hoyer is out there, Josh Johnson is out there, I'd rather have either than McElroy as a 3rd QB.

Chaz Schilens - The fact he's made it this far leads me to believe they still have plans for him, but he hasn't done much to state his case, not being on the field.

Patrick Turner - Would be a little surprised, but he's been around a few years and doesn't seem to have big upside. I kind of like him as a possession guy.

Dedrick Epps - 3rd TE, they played him a lot in preseason. Part of that was because of injuries, but he clearly was their favorite option outside the top 2.

Dennis Landolt - Like Schilens, the Jets must really see something in this guy. Could be this year's Logan Payne.

Damon Harrison - I like him, but they could try to sneak him to the PS if they find someone at another position they like more.

Nick Bellore/Josh Mauga/Garrett McIntyre: All seem to have limited upside. McIntyre could be cut for another OLB while Bellore is a very good special teamer they're trying to find a role for. Mauga is decent as a backup. All are expendable.

Isaiah Trufant - He's here for the special teams. He's a pest as a defensive back, but he gives up more plays than he makes and would be destroyed if he needed to play a lot of time.

T.J. Conley - Expendable as a punter if they like someone more.

These are the weakest players on roster.

I would like to see Jets sign LB Keenan Clayton, he ws cut by Eagles & looked interesting last nite against Jets. Jets need to strengthen there LB group.

I say 9 players can be upgraded. I am sure 9 won't, but at least 3-5 will.

Agreed on all choices ....except Harrison. Harrison over Tavesau....hmm. Harrison looked stouter at point-of -attack against Eagles. Jets need 3 NT going into season & with Harrison, Jets have now have 3 solid NT's. Jets have been weak at NT, since Jenkins got hurt. Jenkins was real core of Jets defense & Jets have yet to replace him. Harrison might be showing too much potential to be let go of now. Jay Richarson might be brought back. He looked good as rusher, but wasn't maintaining the outside edges against run plays....his doom. Richardson would look good lined up opposite #51 Maybin on 3rd down pass plays. Actually would be Jets best 3rd down outside rush combo ???

I've never seen the Jets keep more than eight OL, so I'd assume one of the nine, likely Landlot, would be first to go followed by Damon Harrison or Nick Bellore.
