I started this for the 2003 season and it brought alot of guys together and it was alot of fun. I met people I had never talked to on the board before, so I will keep my tradition going and I will start the 3rd annual countdown to the NFL season! This is countdown and an extra area for chatting. Enjoy!

There are 30 days until the NFL Draft begins!

This draft can't get here any slower. I am so fucking sick of newbie mock drafts, fantasy trades. I know I will hear a great deal of it about the guys we picked between the draft and TC. I guess it's just part of being on a popular board.

Hi Penny and FITM I want to be part of the Gang Green Family and would just like to say that I can't wait for the draft and will be pissed if we draft Vernon Davis at 4. Thank you.

You aren't the only one who feels that way about Davis. Welcome to a thread that will last for nearly 200 days

I haven't zeroed in on just one player, but here are some players I wouldn't mind seeing selected at 4...

    (In no order)

D'Brickashaw Ferguson- Many people around here argue that since we have Adrian Jones we should totally dismiss drafting this guy. Well to be quite honest that is horse shit. If the Jets like what this guy does and feel he can be an elite LT, Adrian Jones will not stand in their way. He has tremendous arm length which helps make him an elite pass blocker. He has a good head on his shoulders and has top intangibles.

Mario Williams- If the Jets want the BPA, then this would probably be their guy. I have always compared him to Richard Seymour who has been a major part of the New England Patriots success. Mario is a athletic Seymour with the same kind of size. He would be a great DE to have opposite Ellis.

AJ Hawk- - This is a guy I am not crazy about drafting, but I could understand why we would want him. He is extremely athletic for a LB and would fit nicely in just about every scheme. He has top intangibles and is a solid tackler like Jonathan Vilma. Vilma and Hawk side by side in the 3-4 would be a nightmare to run against.

Vince Young- - Has received alot of grief the last few months due to his poor wonderlic, but that is a bunch of crap. I am more concerned with the offense he played at Texas, in which he played exsclusively in the Shotgun. His throwing motion could use work, but isn't of great concern. Other than that, Young is a tremendous weapon. He has potential to be a great passer and is already a monster when he tucks the ball down and runs. If he is given a chance to learn Young could wind up being the best player in this entire draft.

I also am high on Matt Leinart, but I doubt he gets past the Titans at three so I wont mention him...

How is that for a reply? lol

How about you? Who do you like at 4?

Oh that was a hell of a reply let me add my insight.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson- I agree with pretty much every point you made. An elite pass blocker with great feet. I believe we have to rebuild the o line and having the best Left Tackle Prospect in the entire draft is what we should do with the 4th pick. I mean this guy could have been #1 last year according to most scouts, and is my favorite pick for the Jets.

Mario Williams- Freak of an athlete with great size and speed. Gets to top speed instantly and could be a primo pass rusher. I just worry about him not going full throtle everytime. I remember reading that he has some motivation problems sometimes. But other than that I would not be upset if we drafted him because he has a Tremendous Ceiling.

A.J Hawk- Like you said not extremely high drafting this guy for two reasons. One because we have our future MLB in Jonathan Vilma and there are more pressing needs to take a shot at with the 4 pick. 2. Because this Draft is deep at OLB and we would need to pick one up to complete our 3-4 defense.

Vince Young- To be honest I wasn't sure what to think and I like to listen to all sides of the story before making judgement. I've read what many posters think and what anaylists think and I have to say that at 4 If the Jets thought that he was the most dynamic player on the board then I would not be upset if we took him. If he needs time thats ok because we've got Penny and Ramsey for this season. If he needs a little more time to digest the playbook its alright. But I would not be hammering a wall if we drafted him.

Who are we trading with? Who wants to move up that is in the top 10? You act like everyone will want to trade with us so we can get Vernon Davis. I think he could be gone as early as 6 to SF.

Detroit or Buffalo would be the best bet IMO. Also, if SF selects a TE (I think theyd be incredibly dumb to do that with EJ on the roster), theyll prolly release EJ. Who, BTW, would look awfully good in green. In which case, we just moved down a few slots, and acquired an extra rounder. Win-win. Again, I dont think SF should take him (I dont think they will, either), but if thats the way the chips fall, were still in good position to make an impact.

God I kept watching that video of the Jets draft blunders and all I can picture is Mario Williams on the board and Jets fans cheering "we want williams we want williams." Then hearing with the 4th pick in the 2006 nfl entry draft the new york jets select Vernon Davis TE Maryland. Oh god please don't let history repeat itself.

Mock drafts are one of the most annoying things on this board!
It's even more annoying when 1 guy makes 20 threads within a week for different mocks
    then
after the draft post how his mock was right.....

I don't want Vernon Davis at 4, but we'd finally have that double threat TE we have always dreamed about.
