Here is a live link to the draft (NFL Network) http://www.nfl.com/draft/2009/live/app Detroit Lions have announced Matthew Stafford as the first overall pick, so the Rams will be on the clock at 4:05pm This thread should be used similar to a Game Thread.
With the reports coming out that all it will take is a second rounder for Boldin how could the Jets or Giants not jump on this guy?! His medical history must really be scaring teams off.
(This doesn't have anything to do with the actual draft) Apparently those reports were false -- Arizona's GM said that the asking price for Boldin didn't drop.
Latest buzz centers on WR Crabtree April 25, 2009 Greetings from the Daily News bunker in Florham Park, N.J. The latest buzz here is centering on WR Michael Crabtree. Check it out: If QB Mark Sanchez is off the board, and if Crabtree slips to the Jaguars (8), the Jets will try to trade up for the talented receiver from Texas Tech. The NFL Network is reporting that the Jets and Jaguars already have a deal in place, hinging on whether the player coveted by the Jets still is available. It didn't name the player, but I'm hearing rumblings that it's Crabtree. Again, it's if Sanchez is gone. Before the combine in February, Crabtree was considered by some as the best player in the draft. But a stress fracture was discovered in his foot and he underwent surgery. He claims to be okay now and, from what I hear, that hasn't affected his stock. If he drops, it could be a "need" issue, although there have been reports of him demonstrating a "diva" attitude that turned off the Rams and Browns in pre-draft visits. Diva or not, watch for Crabtree. If he gets by the Seahawks (4) and the Raiders (7), the Jets could spring into action. By Rich Cimini on April 25, 2009 3:24 PM | Comments (5)
NFL Network reports that the Rams are expected to pick Baylor OT Jason Smith with the 2nd overall pick.
Mayock has us picking Harvin, Sanchez going to Washington in a trade at 8...I don't like that one bit. MACLIN going 21 to Phili....
I hope we don't trade up for him. The last few years we have picked someone that no one thought we would (the exception is Gholston). We traded up for "our guy" the last few seasons, and that guy being someone no one was expecting. Revis, Keller, and Harris were all "surprise" picks that no one expected, but they all were fantastic picks. What you can learn from this is that you can't really trust any rumors about the Jets and the draft, but that the Jets have their eye on a few players and will make a move to get them.
taking crabtree would be a mistake, he may be supremly talented but he has chad johnson or terrell owens written all over him with that stupid diva attitude that rips lockerooms apart
I would rather a trade up for Crabtree than Sanchez, and dear god not Freeman, but hopefully we stay put or trade down, I would rather Nicks
I'd rather we take Maualuga or Orakpo if they are on the board than take any WR. IMO, you only take a WR in round 1 if there's a Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald in the draft...
