After looking at the five team captains from last year, we didn’t have the best group and it seemed Rex was just trying to motivate the team and key players. Well it didn’t pan out as planned. I know it’s early to talk about who will be captains, but until the draft there isn’t much to talk about, so why not. Only two captains from last year deserve to wear the “C” this season; Revis and Pouha. Smith was a joke last year, Holmes was anything but a leader and Sanchez would have been more comfortable with his pacifier and binky. Both Holmes and Sanchez could be expensive trade bait after another season. Smith should be considered lucky to still have a backup roll. Rex missed the target last year probably will again this season, so I wanted to offer my two cents. 1st – Reward the guys who get it done on the field and hold the team together. We know without Mangold and Revis we suck, so start there. A future HOF from each side of the ball. 2nd – Give credit to the people who know how to conduct themselves on and off the field. Two guys who have been great shoulders to rely on in a pinch belong to Keller and Pouha. That’s it, four captains to motive and mold this team, with two from each side of the ball. We don’t need five, but if we have to have another then make it Leonhard, who is more of a football player than men twice his size. I do have faith he will be back. Now since Rex usually likes to pull shit out of his ass, my dark horse for a fifth would be Mabin, who not only lead the team in sack while only playing a handful of plays in part of a season, but learning a completely new defense. Reward the guy who got it done, not someone like Smith who you hoped would and fell way short last season. If Sanchez is a team captain this year it will be a joke. Hell he could lose his job by mid-season.
Yeah, how about having the Coach be the beacon of light the team is inspired by and wants to perform for. The team leaders show up all by themselves without the meaningless title.
I missed him saying that, which makes REX's selection last year all that much worse. Most teams have the players select, but Rex stepped out on a limb last year and it broke under all that weight.
Rex didn't do season long captains first two seasons according to him. What he did was the gameday captains just to mess with other teams or pump up his own. I agree him choosing them was a mistake, I liked his idea for doing it which was to give Tone some responsibility, obviously that backfired. He learned from it though
No captains this year. Revis said he and mangold are gonna be much more vocal, along with the vets (Keller,Sanchez etc)
He mentioned that after the heart breaking loss in Miami. The press conference touched the loss and the fiasco w/ Holmes getting kicked out the game , Rex not noticing. Holmes not looking at the game and throwing a temper-tantrum. Rex's SB claims ... & Rex saying - Shity ... I mean Schotty not being fired... Just typing about it bothers
if he names captains your choices are spot on only suggestion is-since u have 2 from offense and 2 from defense maybe add in one additional capt from special teams-just a thought
Rex tried pulling a Joe Namath ... Giving a captain status to a player that is immature Worked with Namath not so much Holmes
Sanchez is NOT a good QB ,,,let alone a leader.....(re watch Ravens game if you need proof) Tebow will take this team on his back by week 6. I also predict he will make Rex a gentleman.
One this is certain, Rex wanted to ground and pound... NO QB is better at it than Tebow. Rex is thinking one chain of thought right now..... If Tebow>Dilfer And Dilfer=Ring Then Tebow=Ring
