Instead of saying nothing during the MMA fine ($50K) which led to the way-too-much $75K fine for a 1-word expletive, they said nothing to defend Rex. That's a disgrace, IMO. He shouldn't have even been fined for the MMA incident -- a warning should have been given. He's out $125,000 for flipping the bird and telling a drunk to go "f***" himself. That's excessive. Each one is almost 5% of Rex's salary.
The fact that he got fined for telling some drunken douche bag to go fuck a pig is atrocious. He did nothing but yell something at a fan on his way out he didn't go out of his way to do it. Fuck Goodell that piece of rat shit.
The problem is Rex got caught red-handed....he needs to be a little more discreet when he's telling rival fans to go fuck themselves.
Just comes down to a poor representation of the mighty NFL. I think there's a little part of everyone that wants to stick up for Rex for doing basically what any of us would do if we were heckled. Same as the old man owner of the Titans flipping birds left and right during that game last year against Buffalo (?), you can't be one of the prominent faces of the franchise and the NFL empire and be caught doing that.
Players and coaches get curesed at all the time by gutless fans who know they can't do anything. Players and coaches need to ignore it especially coaches who are held to a higher standard. rex deserved the fine and he's lucky it was "only" $75K. W/ that said it's over and time to move along. he'll get fined again down the road, that's who he is and I love the way he coaches and acts.
This raises a question to me though...are you going to start fining coaches who are caught shouting obsenities at officials, players, etc. on broadcast cameras? It's a stretch but where will it end? Rex would be screwed haha, he'd be coaching for free
The said part, if I remember reading the article correctly, is that it was a Jets fan. Not even a Pats fan that called him out. And it was fucking halftime! What if they pulled out a win? The douchebag that called out Rex should be stripped of his Jets fandom
My point is he shouldn't have been fined for the MMA and the curse fine was excessive. Compare that to bad hits, attacks on the integrity of referrees, etc.
Rex is an extension of the NFL....that's like the NFL is making those obscene gestures and remarks. Like junc said, Rex deserved what he got and was lucky it was ONLY a fine he received. He needs to hold himself to a higher standard.
Right, but the key here is that you're verbally attacking the people (a person) who spend the hundreds, thousands, what have you on the sport. Is it bs? Yeah, of course. A dirty hit is jeopardizing someone's livelyhood if not someone's life but it's on a player who is putting it on the line every day. Point is, those are "internal" acts. When you go after a fan it's external.
no. woody/tanny did the right thing. rex is hilarious, the players, owner, entire team loves him, but you cant tell fans to "shut the fuck up", and get caught giving somebody the finger. a head coach shouldnt be doing this. i personally could really give a shit, but this is the world we currently live in. everything is over sensitive, exaggerated, etc.
If I am out doing a presentation for my agency and I tell someone in the audience to fuck off... I am getting fired.
Has the idiot fan who instigated this been ID'd yet ? I hope the idiot gets hit with beer next time he shows up at MetLife.
who cares if Rex gets fined? Hes a fat loudmouth. He knonws what he is. He pays for his actions. Lets move on
I believe in supporting your Coach/employee when he's attacked, not going along meekly with a dictatorial Commissioner out on a power trip whose league is now penalizing legitimate hard hits and calling catches non-catches in the Endzone.
I support my coach too...but he was clearly wrong, in both instances. You're letting your emotions cloud your judgement.
