Low risk, high reward alternative to Edwards/draftee? If he acts like a doosh we can just cut him if he's playing for the min ... http://www.csnchicago.com/football-...s-crazy-as-you-woul?blockID=685878&feedID=661
You won't get the type of production T.O. could potentially bring out of a late round rookie. I'd love to see the Jets snag one of the big 6' 3"+ receivers in the first couple of rounds this year but if not T.O. could be useful at #2 WR.
Wont get the production out of TO the mext 2-3 years that youd get out of a late round rookie or young vet
We got schilens and turner. If we get a rookie too, and it TO it cuts out a young vet. Plus how would all these guys get snaps. T.O makes N.O sense
So then we already have young vets? T.O. makes great sense for this season if we don't get a receiver early in the draft or a Braylon. You want to rely on some late round kid to be our #2? That makes much less sense than T.O.
Why not give T.O. a shot, so long as we realize he would be a 1 year option... if he performs above expectations, and if he does, it will be good for the Jets. If he is a distraction or cannot perform, cut him with no big loss. Getting him for minimum would not keep us from drafting a WR for the future. I only see an upside to this possibility.
He's not high reward, and he's not low risk. He's mentally imbalanced, coming off an injury, and he looked very old towards the end. The Jets need to stop being this "look what we got!" franchise and start behaving like the franchises that have built long term winning traditions based on culture and player development. They took their eye off the ball last year. -X-
Id want to rely on a combination of Turner/a late rounder/Schilens to all contribute as our #2 wr, ideally with Braylon as an addition. We all saw how poorly Plax worked out for us, theres no point in screwing up the same way again. Id much rather let those 3 young guys compete for snaps, along with Braylon and hope someone arises as our future #2 when its all said and done. Hell id rather take a young in shape guy simply for his physical upside.
