I think we can judge him. It's his call to have these CBs playing so far back on the ball. It's his call to have guys not rush the QB when there are only a couple minutes left in the game.

Our D is taking away easy victories for us, and it's not good. Someone's got to take the blame. Sutton looks like the one to me.

Mangini probably has more influence on this defense than Sutton...

I agree that he shouldn't just sit back and let them score but I think some of that blame goes onto Mangini. I'm sure him and Sutton collaborated about that. However, wouldn't we be bashing Sutton if we had blitzed and let Chambers go in for an easy long TD pass and take hardly any time off on one of those drives.

I just think we should have a coordinator who was born into a 3-4 or hybrid type of defense. This would help not only with playcalling but evaluating prospects or just giving helpful tweeks or adjustments to the playbook.

Uh.. Sutton was here in the Parcells days and so was EM (also with NE obviously)... We have the right coaches it is the PLAYERS that we are lacking for a 34.

I think its safe to say that Sutton is now the Hackett of our defense.

Same thing I have questioned but for some reason people still seem to just bash Sutton. Im fine with bashing Sutton but without knowing how much of the defense he is really running you have just as much reason to be bashing Mangini about the crappy defense. Right now im goin with the players are the problem theory.

I love the 3-4.... when the personel is there to carry it out efficiently. Unfortunately, I loved the 4-3 better, and it wasn't implimented by many teams across the league. It worked well for us because we had the personel, and it was a little obscure to play against for opposing QB's. For example, the playoff game in Pittsburgh. Big Ben openly stated that we were playing a D that he was not used to seeing, and it was hard to make the adjustments. I've heard other QBs saying the same thing.

The 3-4 was a mistake, again, simply because we dont have the personel to do it correctly. I'd give Mangini a few seasons to get the personel that he needs before I go completely against it.
