For those of you wondering whether they were going to offer it like last year, they finally announced that it will be available on Sept. 4.

Now you can watch the Jets if you live out-of-market but can't get DirecTV.

    http://www.shacknews.com/article/75522/nfl-sunday-ticket-returns-to-ps3-with-new-lower-price

I had it last year. Just a summary for those of you wondering what the heck this is about:

    1. As you know, DirecTV has the exclusive contract for out-of-market NFL games (other than the national packages on CBS, Fox, and the night games on NBC, ESPN, and NFL Network). The feeds you can get are the offshore illegal ones, and they get shut down periodically.

    2. Other than through DirecTV, there is no way to pay for a streaming feed of the games. But, like me, a lot of people can't get DirecTV because of either a mountain, forest, or apartment building rules.

    3. If you own a PS3, you order it onscreen there. It's $299, which is cheaper than last year, but more than DirecTV subscribers pay ($199, and often free with a promotional deal for signing up).

    4. Last year when I got it, there was some fine print in a check box about agreeing on "not being able to get DirecTV," but there's no follow up or verification. Word on the internet is they have no way or no desire to police (too hard). So no worries there -- if you don't get or want DirecTV, but want Sunday Ticket, get a PS3.

    5. The quality was pretty good, like HD level quality, but not quite as good as a network broadcast. It was fairly bug-free. Occasional communication outages or "buffering" things, but mostly an enjoyable way to watch the game.

    7. For those of you who've never tried it -- it's awesome to get every game. Sunday is just a dream, sitting there being able to flip around to any game you want, just knowing any game there is, you're going to get it.

    8. I found the money is a wash -- I used to spend $40 at a sports bar on multiple occasions a year, not really doing anything but watching the game. Snacks are cheaper at home.

The cost of a PS3 plus the almost $20 per jets game for the service is still more than the cost of going to the bar to see the games that aren't nationally televised. But if they knock a hundred off the fee and I can get a PS3 cheap, its something to keep in mind. I just had my wife order me a Roku for the bedroom tv (5 year anniversary gift) and since I can use that to get the other 3 top sports for a subscription fee, I hope someday I can get the NFL that way too.

I'm sure DirectTV also gets the lion's share of that $299 as well so why would they give a shit who buys it?

nice, im moving in a couple days and was thinking about not getting cable but the thought of having to go somewhere for every football game or stream it in shit quality on the internet was making the choice for me. now i think ill just get this and say fuck cable. it 300 bucks but, cable is like 70 a month for the cheapest, plus internet its like 100 bucks, so, i mean, after 3 months cable is way more expensive. already hvae a ps3 haha so thats not part of the cost...

well if you have a PS3, the price is about a wash. but if you don't $250 for a new PS3 and $300 for Sunday Ticket is not a wash in anyway shape or form. But if you were considering getting a console, this might push you towards PS3, or to buy now.

    Sunday Ticket is great.

Also use this if you are outside the NY/CT/NJ to figure out when the game will be showing on TV: http://www.the506.com/nflmaps/

It updates every week showing what game is airing where. Also explains the rules so you can see and figure out in advance how many games you might get on your TV.

I must point out that Directv tried to pull the wool over peoples eyes with the service this year.

They tried to claim that the rate has been reduced to $199 when in reality the package that you got for last year with all of the extras like the shortened games and redzone channel and all that is still $299 but they have relabeled it as Sunday Ticket Max.

The version that is $199 is called Sunday Ticket and does not include all of the extras.

    They just split the package.

Also don't ever pay that price. Every year I threaten to cancel. Last year I really pushed it and got it for free. This year I felt a little guilty so I settled for half-price lol

I'd also recommend streaming NetFlix. You'll be set with lots of really good shows.
If I want some sort of sports fix they have much of the ESPN 30 for 30 series.

All I miss is NFL Network and ESPN but I heard they both stopped giving football news and tell you what Tim Tebow had for breakfast.

    Edit: It's only $7 dollars a month.

    They have a better offer...and it's about $40 cheaper...Here you go!

It's only $250 if you buy it through them. Simply state that you can't get DirecTV...I highly doubt they are investigating whether you can or cannot since you would be a paying customer. Then you are good to go!

Yeah...I pony up for DirecTV every year just for Sunday ticket. I tried that streaming crap...hated it. I like to dvr the games and time shift.

This year I called and pulled a few chains and got it free, plus 3 mos. of HBO/Showtime/Cinemax etc. and some wireless box so I can watch on my phone....plus a bunch of rebates & shit.

First month bill was one dollar...plus they're refunding some other money once they get their old equipment back. 2nd month was $40. My old monthly was over $100.

    I'm happy.

Maybe I'm mis-using the term "streaming".

I'm referring to finding a geeked feed on the internet on my pc.

Hiccups, poor quality and dropped feeds was the problem.

Why do i remember sunday ticket on the ps3 being $80 last year?

I was very close to making the swap to either Direct TV or Fios just because i wanted nfl network.

Thankfully the week i was calling and getting the info cablevision finally came to terms with them.

$7 a month For their sports package and you get NFL network and Redzone.

Big thing for me is you got the basketball package with it to

Ahhhh...I used those too and they sucked. Never reliable!

I'm figuring DirecTV's feed will be more like the NFL's pre-season package which was VERY good and very clear. I'll keep everyone posted...gonna bite the bullet for the $250.

That's what I thought. My friend swears by it, but he's one to exaggerate, though. I'm not going to waste my time searching for a live feed every time a site gets shut down, which you may not find, anyway.

I, too, recently discovered this scam when I threatened to cancel the subscription last month, and they told me all about this "only get the Ticket and none of the other Max features option", which is what I only wanted from the get-go, anyway. According to them, this Max package was around since last year, but I know for a fact that they added these extra features like the NFL Redzone and Gamezone, or whatever they call it without our consent, and therefore we were forced to pay for something we didn't want.

I was pissed off and told them I wanted to cancel, but in the end, I ended up with a big discount and got rid of what I didn't want.:)

http://www.thefirstrow.eu/ has always worked good for me and when you get to the real NFL (This week) there is usually multiple feeds for every game so if you don't like one of them pick another.

Last year I paid for NBA League Pass (which is legal stream basketball games). Only gave it a shot because they gave a chance to cancel payment/subscription a week after purchase. Service/stream was very solid during trial & throughout the season.

If this package is offering a similar "trial-before-subscription" give it a shot. I'd highly recommend you don't take your bad experiences with bootleg streams and expect all streams work that way. For me the NBA League Pass & bootleg streams is big difference in quality.

    ===

Whenever the NBA stream would mess up, I'd try to surf internet on another browser & saw my internet overall was slow.

I had Sunday Ticket for PS3 last year, and pretty much regretted it. I was looking forward to HD quality, but the quality was slightly better than a good stream from firstrow or any other livestreaming websites. What a waste of money that was. Unfortunate really...

Must have been your connection. I had it last year and that just wasn't the case. I think it auto-detects your bandwidth and adjusts quality.

The picture I had, there's no way you'd compare it to firstrow.
