This team is a mess and the oline isn't that good. If we throw him into the fire it might do more harm then good. I know we need to get him playing time.

At least he doesnt have the overhead of playoff hopes. I don't think starting him now will set him back, but I don't think the outcome of the games will be all that different from what we have seen already.

The Oline had a bad game, but I think it has been fine. Getting him in is important for the learning process both for him and for the F.O. We NEED to know what we have w/ Clemens going into the draft

I think the oline was similar to last week. Chad had a lot of time to throw for the most part but took a couple of walloping big hits.

Clemens needs to start getting game experience under his belt so we can find out if we put our future on him or if we need to draft competition for him.

I happen to agree. I think the time for Clemens has come. But, if all that changes this week is the QB, I will start to lose respect for our coaching staff. Something has to be done with our Defense; they absolutely suck.........Mangini should sit the whole Defense down on Monday and say, "Guys, it aint workin'. Let's rebuild it. I want your feelings and input; we are going to work this out together." Somebody might be bold enough to raise their hand at that point and say, "Coach, I really think we could be more productive if we switched totally over to the 4-3." Mangini should then say, "At 1-6, your point is totally valid. Guys we are going to go that route. We'll have a lot of work to do this week. Changing will not work if we all are not fully committed to working at the change together."

Honestly, I don't think our offense is in that bad shape. Most quarterbacks are started in worse situations than this. Our offensive line has made a lot of strides. Our receivers are good. We have a runningback.

I am so sick of watching Dewayne Fatboy Robertson get shoved around like a ragdoll b-tch. When do we cut bait with this guy.

Put an f'ing tackling dummy in there. Go get me Vince Wilfork or Amobi Okoye....

I’m sick of these stupid threads – how many times is the egg getting smashed per game when the opposing defense knows full well that there is no threat of a pass?

This offensive line is NOT that bad…the quartersack is.

We have to see if we need a QB in the 08 Draft, play him and see if he is the future.

Yes, our D is much more in need of an overhaul than our O.

Hopefully he will be humble enough to do something of the sort. However, if Mangini is insistent on a 3-4, and he is to be coaching the team for the foreseeable future, would it be worth it to switch to a 4-3 just to look better (hopefully) for the remainder of the season or would it be better to push on with our 3-4 with the hopes of ironing out the kinks for next year?

There are very few players in the defense right now who look like they can play in a 3-4.

Do we really want to watch 6 or 7 stiffs in the 3-4 so that 4 or 5 guys who might be able to play in it in a year or two get experience?

It just makes no sense. And it's probably more like 8 stiffs and 3 potential players.

Yes, unlike the 4-3, which would be perfectly suited for the talents of exactly.....2 of our front 7 players.

I know, let's retool the defense (again) so it fits the skillset of the 2 defensive players who have sucked the most this year!

I'm as pissed about the defense as anyone, but it's in full rebuild mode. It's going to take time to get it together.

Listen, football players only play for so long anyway. This is his second year, and the o-line is getting better. I see no problem whatsoever with putting him in. It's KC's time, and barring injury, Chad's career as a starter is done -- at least on the Jets.

We have rarely been in a true 3-4 base lately. We are playing a lot of San Diego 3-4 and 4-3 fronts. It is not making a difference. We are just not physical at the point of attack and our linebackers do not handle their gap assignments well. One thought might be to play three safety sets with Erick Smith in the box in a flex 6-2 front and hope that Revis and Dyson can hold their men one on one. But the 3-4 generalization is not really the issue right now.
