As I was pondering over the roster after our draft, I started thinking about our potential secondary. The addition of Revis is gonna make our back 4 one that is very fast and also very physical. Between Revis and Rhodes we have 2 guys w/ both great hitting ability and speed, while Dyson has great speed and Smith is a real bruiser at SS. We should really be flying around to the ball and punishing WR's, which will make for great defensive results and alot of exciting plays.
So is our linebacking corps with the addition of Harris to go with Vilma, Barton, and Thomas (and Hobson, though he's not really fast).
You're right....speed and physical prowlness is a mighty fine combo to go along w/ our superior schemes and gameplanning.
Which is why I don't understand you calling Jets fan losers for getting guys who will help make our defense quicker and more physical...
I've made it well known that I liked the players we selected. My issue is the overly-aggressive trades and the fact that we did not improve our depth, which, IMO opinion is what sets the Pats apart from us.
Ok, let's not get this thread derailed. We've already got a nice little "Jet's Suck" thread going. I'll agree that our effective team speed is a bit better with Revis replacing Barrett and *maybe, just maybe* Justin Miller getting a shot at nickel.
Barrett is the major question mark. Miller is definitely quick enough to be the nickel, and he's probably better suited than Barrett. The competition between Revis, Barrett, Miller, Poteat, and Coleman for the 2, 3, 4, and 5 corners will be very interesting if we don't cut Barrett.
Having Miller, Revis, and RHodes on the field at one time is an awful lot of speed and athleticism. Exciting stuff.
By losers I mean that the FO, indirectly promised to us that the reason we were so quiet on the FA front, was b/c we would address all our needs via the draft. We were spoonfed that all offseason. It was my opinion that the biggest issue w/ the team, was overall depth. I expected us to stockpile picks, and add quality players via a BPA approach. Since we only ended up w/ 4 picks due to overly-aggressive draft management, I do not feel that we made up for lost time in FA. To me the FO screwed up...and the biggest losers in all of it were Jet fans. I did not mean it in an insulting tone. And I think I've made that clear.
Since the only people who would be excited about this are Jets fans, does it mean that if you are excited about it, that you're a loser?
Ya know what? If you all have such a problem w/ me expressing my opinion, I'll seriously just leave. I take pride in not being bias in one area or another and giving my hones opinion regardless of what other's may think. I've tried not to make this about me and to keep in team related...but now I'm forced to respond. If i'm that horrible of a poster due to one thread in which I was well within board rules and made a legit, concise opinion, I'll gladly step down from my MOD position and leave the site for good. Lemme know guys.
Yeah, but i bet you still wish you hadn't put such a redulously ignorant title on a thread that you created just to elicit negative responses about the Jets draft. Seriously, "Jets fans are the biggest losers"? You do realize that by criticizing the Revis pick so openly and publicly that it would lead one to believe that you'll be secretely hoping Revis is a bust. I know bad drafts like seems all too common for the Jets and as Jets fans we pride ourselves in our self-doubt and dislike of the management (paper bags over heads at the Meadowlands during losing seasons and our frequent draft day fan outbursts come to mind)...But I refuse to believe this was a bad draft. nice follow up thread to cover your ass, though, Kurt
I'll sign on to this one. I really feel there was a disconnect in the FO about what the strategy was this season. If you're going to consolidate heavily in the draft then you really need to take better advantage of the free agent process to cover that. Where is our offensive line help? Where is our defensive line help? Signing Coleman was just acknowledging that KVO did not work out. Improving the line would have meant bringing in a guy to compete on the inside.
Don't get into this with the hecklers. This board can be absolutely evil at times. The people who make personal attacks are fairly well known and definitely a minority of the board.
You gave me an official warning for me calling someones thread "Garbage" (no profanity used)- yet, you call everyone on this board who supports the team, LOSERS on the weekend we have all been looking forward to, and debating about for 3 months.
Ok, If you had a problem w/ a warning you recieved by all means you should've PMed me and I wouldve gladly discussed it w/ you. Instead you are misquoting a thread title to try and undermine me. I'll pretend this post never happend..but for future reference...I don't appreciate what you're doing. It's downright low.
Would it have made a difference if he had added the word "The" in front of his thread title? It's obvious if you read the post that he meant "The Jets fans are the biggest losers of the offseason". While I may not agree with that (I think the Cardinals and Lions fans are always the losers of the offseason and the Fins fans are on the way to joining them) it didn't strike me that he was calling me a loser. He was suggesting that I had lost something this offseason, and looking back on it I did. I lost my blind faith in the new regime.
