All i see is penny sucks trade him, trade vilma trade j mac. Fire mangini. The fans suck, d brick is a bust, d rob is a bust. this team is very talented this isnt john madden football where u can trade guys like crazy. Relax we are still in process of building a team. penny brought this team to the playoffs more than anyother qb. i been a fan through the mid 80' and early 90's those were some rough years. btw give penny some time to get the wrs down field if u want the deep ball. the guy has so much heart how can you hate him. his arm looked strong to me deep to coles and 3 hail mary attempts. back off the guy. vilma is a great lb put some good players around him. its 3-4 what is he suppose to make all the tackles? come on. now maybe they can move himand harris around and build something. revis is gonna be awesome now we just need another corner and we lock the cornerback position up. and j mac who cares he's our #3 guy why cry bout him? Give mangini some time. O and stop crying

I agree with your general sentiment...except for J-mac. If he was being payed like a #3 then sure...but he's got a fat wallet.

love the avatar. I dream about the day I get to meet Chad Pennington, shake his hand and say "Thank you Chad, thank you"

man...when he scrambled on 3rd down in the last game for that big gain I was screaming "Chad Pennington - He's an Iron MAN"

Pity he hasn't had a better career here...

I am on the fence about Clemens/Chad. Thing is though like you said his arm looked fine going deep last Sunday. So, we know he can throw short and long (to a certain degree) just not so much the intermediate out routes. After the nice deep ball to Coles either Schott decided to go short or Chad checked down for pretty much the rest of the game. As much as Chad seemed to enjoy that deep ball I'd be surprised if the latter were true. If they don't open it up more this Sunday I'll be pissed.

How is trading Vilma having no clue about football? He stinks in the 3-4 and probably will demand top dollar in a year when his contract runs out. He is undersized for a 3-4 system. I wanted Vilma on this team since he was a freshmen at the U. This wasnt an easy conclusion for me to reach but I just realize that were better off if trade him and just stick w/ Dave Harris and maybe Hobson at ILB. And plz get over Chad. He is a career average QB with a TD to pick ratio just above 1 to 1. Im sorry if I refuse to accept mediocrity

Chad looked good throwing the deep ball on his 3 hail mary attempts? Oh please those things were ducks and fluttered like crazy.

Now was his 57 yd pass to coles a nice pass? Yes, but any QB in the NFL can make that throw. He was COMPLETELY unpressured, got to set his feet, get full arm swing, and put his whole body into that throw. Any pressure and he can't make that pass because chad is unable to just set his feet and throw it quickly with any zip.

    I agree.

Some people do know nothing about football.

That doesn't prevent them from starting threads, however.

Good point Rob. However, just to see Chad throw the ball deep is shocking and leaves room for a glimmer of hope.

I am not a Chad apologist. I want us to win like everyone else (?) and long for a day when we have a QB who can truly make all of the throws. Hopefully that will be Clemens.

I had to stop reading half way through the first line because of how brutally written this is. You are trying to make a pretty valid point, but have you never heard of capitalizing letters or using punctuation? That was brutal! The thread should be called "Some people have no clue about grammar".

Seriously, if it is worth writing, it is worth writing properly, especially when you're the one creating the thread.

I don't know about Chad any more. I once thought he was done, (You all will remember me flaming him at will) but then he comes up with the performance like this. Maybe it really is that all he needs is a good group of offensive linemen.

And I would like to point out that Brady has never looked pressured in his first 7 games this year. For instance, look at the deep ball he threw to Moss - look at how much space he had, and how much time he had. Yeah, Brady might have been able to do that much better than Chad behind Jets OL, but I still think Chad could do much better if he gets a linemen that can actually block and earn some space AND time for him. (And, in the meanwhile, make some hole for Jones to run through.)

But then again, his passes to the sideline seriously lack velocity. I'm clueless now.

The pass blocking for the past few games has been at best adequate. Over the last 4 games I've seen a QB that can't win games when he needs to but he's only losing them when the game is on his oft-injured shoulders. Chad can still manage games for the team and an oline that can produce a consistent running game would definitely help us maintain leads in the 4th quarter.

One of the major reasons we're losing so badly is that the defense is being taken apart at will by every offense we face. The d-line is getting no push, we're constently getting gashed for 4 or 5 yard run plays at the least. Our coverage is almost non-existent and right now Hank Poteat looks like our best defensive player. Revis' 48 tackles, while they look phenominal, are only proving that opposing quarterbacks are willing to test him and usualy wind up winning. He's tackling ball cariers but only after they make the catch. We're not defending the passes well enough and we're getting almost no pressure.

Getting rid of Pennington right now isn't going to help this team as much as everybody thinks. We're still not going to be able to move the ball on the ground, we're still going to be comming from behind in the end, and we're still going to get picked apart on defense. One guy isn't going to come in and improve the game. Clemens is still going to make the mistakes that inexperienced QB's make, the play calling is still going to be ineffective, Clemens is going to get pressured constantly, and we're still going to give up tons of yardage on d. What needs to change is the defensive coaching and o-line. Even if Chad can't take us to the superbowl he can still make us a competitive team given the right circumstances. Putting in Clemens now isn't going to help with this season.

ooh. anti- chad-ites are going to scold you for suggesting that they want Kellen in b/c it will improve this season. They'll say its for in-game experience for Clemmens and to "see what he's got" (so they can call for a QB with are early 1st round pick when he doesn't perform well, lol)

but to counter their argument before they make it - I'd suggest that if we feel we have something valuable waiting in the wings in Kellen, it's best not to throw him to the wolves for the sake of getting experience a.s.a.p. Our O-line has some damned good potential, but we have to improve it a little more. We also really need to get our Defense up to par (so that Kellen won't be playing from behind all day every day) before putting this kid in to start full time.

Gotta agree with you here, that was one major point that I forgot. But, as you said, I don't see the upside in throwing in Clemens to be mercilessly slaughtered behind our o-line. At best he learns what not to do when you're being chased down by Richard Seymour. At worst he gets shell shocked and has to spend a gross amount of time getting over his post traumatic stress from having himself slammed into the turf over and over when the throws off of his back foot aren't being picked off.

That being said I doubt any coach is going to make a qb switch this drastic unless his team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. As unlikely as it is right now - and I would say it's about as likely as D-Rob gaining 30lbs overnight and maintaining his athletic ability - this team still has a chance of winning 10 games and and I still feel Pennington gives us the best chance of doing that provided he keeps his head out of his ass as the entire time and stays away from 15 yard out routes.
