With the O-line that we have and the backs that we have I expect a run game that can control a game, dictate the pace, but so far we have not seen it. Sure we had those 2 big runs in the 4th qtr of the Texans game but up to that point the run game was non-existent. Hopefully it will show up against the Titans, along with perhaps our first sighting of S. Greene?
I have been wondering the same thing. Ground n pound attack? Not so much.... I think we need to open up the offense early in games so teams respect the pass, then we will be able to run the ball. Still, alot of run-first teams are able to run even though everyone knows they're going to do it...I thought we'd be one of those teams...and right now we aren't. What the fuck is this all about? He's making a solid point...and he's not the only one talking about it.
Right There ^ Sanchez has proved in 2 games that we are not one dimensional, so I expect the rushing game to get more time and space as teams start to adjust To Sanchez's obvious threat. Patience grasshopper
This has been covered a bunch of times. We're seeing 8 and 9 in the box and are losing the numbers game. They need to pass to setup the run. I don't care if he's a rookie, he can clearly handle the pressure.
Valid point my ass. If we were giving up 600 yards of offense to every team but found a way to beat them, I could care less... We doing enough to win games. Thats all that matters. See my last post above.
You truly believe that? If you think you can win without a run game down the stretch than you are sadly mistaken. I know there's plenty of time until that point comes but it should be a valid concern with the personnel we have. Would you be happy if we beat the Rams l9-6 in the way the Redskins did last week?
stackin the box! maybe instead of opening the game running and getting stuffed we should open up passing like the 2nd half. teams are going to make the rookie QB beat them.
Seems like every time we start to open up the pass Sanchez delivers, perhaps he is more ready than Schotty thinks. I'm curious to see how we attack the Titans on Sunday.
The Titans have given up close to 700 yards in passing yardage in the first two games this year...and you want us to run on 'em?
The Jets are running a lot on first down. ESPN's play by play is incomplete for the Jets with at least two drives mysteriously ending with no resolution, however the Jets have run the ball 33 times on first down as opposed to 11 passes in the 44 first down plays recorded. That's going to turn your running game into mush if you keep doing that. And I didn't include the kneel downs as rushes, I just ignored them.
Last year Schotty had a great game plan against them that relied on quick passes to neutralize there dominant front four which worked great. Once they got them worried about the pass it opened up the running attack. That was also Favre's best game of the year. I doubt they're ready to rely on Sanchez that much already, but it seems like they should at least try. He's been money when the pressure was on so far. edit: Of course that front four of them isn't nearly as good w/out Haynesworth.
I don't think our OL has been great to start the season. Sure they've done a decent job, but not great. We're prob one of the top (if not the only) teams attempting to run the ball in comparison than all the other teams around the league. We're just not making the holes big enough. Jones looks the same to me as he did last year, so I'm thinking the OL has to do a better job up front.
I forget where I read this, but the Jets are running the ball the most often out of every team in the league at 56% (i think)
we lead the league with 57 percent running plays. im sure as the year goes on...the rushing will be back up to par 2nd place are vikings at 52 percent
