this team is far from set in the secondary the only reason none of you know that is because all teams do against us is run. As a matter of fact besides Rhodes, Barton, and Ellis everyone else is a big question mark IMO

Hell is there such thing as a ''shut down corner'' nowadays?

Andre Dyson has been fine as our No.1 BTW.

Dyson did a great job on Chambers all day, until the 4th quarter melt down and it was not his fault. With Miami passing every play, the Jets had no pass rush and Harrington had all day to throw. That is not the CBs fault. Most of Harrington's passes were completed underneath and not deep.

There hasn't been a shutdown corner since Deion Sanders in his prime.

No secondary would look good when the QB has this much time to throw.

You guys are being too tough on the definition of a shutdown corner.

I would qualify Bailey, McAllister, and maybe DeAngelo Hall as pretty close.

It wasn't the CB's that failed in the 4th quarter... it was the scheme they were being asked to play

Not really. Nose tackle and pass-rushing OLB are needed more. The CBs have been solid when they're not giving a ridiculous cushion.

Exactly. Like Joe Willie White Shoes said, if you give the QB all day to throw, he's going to complete passes, period, regardless of who you have in the defensive backfield. I think we could use an upgrade at the #2 corner slot, but NT and OLB have to be the biggest priorities this offseason, with DE and road grader RG coming in a close second.

I agree with batesman. I think our secondary would be able to do just fine if there was more pressure on the qb. Of course our cbs arent going to be able to cover if the wrs have 5+ seconds to get open

i disagree with the guys you say are the "only" sure guys on the d. vilma is still solid. he is still finding where he fits into the 3-4. our personnell isnt suited for a 3-4 scheme, so there will definitely be more guys struggling.

i think hobson has played well...he hasnt been great, but i dont see him blowing assignments repeatedly. as far as how the db's are playing i think miller really needs to step it up. too many stupid mistakes and penalties. hes really going to have to focus more and get his mechanics in order.

dyson has done a good job for the most part. he isnt shutting down recievers, but he has been in good position and from the looks of it he hasnt been blowing his assignments.

i think the biggest thing that the staff can do over the offseason is work on implementing the 4-3 back as the base defense. unless we draft or sign a big ass NT and get a solid pass rusher to compliment ellis and take some of the double teams hes been getting we're in trouble. the 3-4 is not a friend to the jets.

Justin Miller sticks out like a sore thumb and on our D that's saying something. We don't need a shutdown CB, we need to bench this guy. He is a huge liability right now.
