Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I wonder if the CS looked at the circumstances and felt that this was an opportunity to showcase Kellen for a possible future trade. Playing against what should be a lesser team, if he plays great it can only bolster his value. If Sanchez was 50/50 and we were playing the colts this week, would Clemens start? Personally, I think it's been fascinating watching Sanchez start, and develop this season, but maybe Ainge is ready to be #2, and KC is going to be trade bait. Maybe a great game or two would set us up to sucker someone out of a third.
I don't think there's much value in Clemens regardless of how he performs (aside from a near perfect ranking). I think in all likelihood Ryan realizes our opponents and I doubt Clemens will throw it more than 16 times. At the same time this is Clemens last year under contract and perhaps a good performance will bolster his future contract (with another team).
I really don't see how Clemens will catch on with another team unless he has a terrific game on Sunday.
if clemens shows nothing in the game against tampa bay.you can be sure that ainge will replace him.with sanchez hurt, then my estimation is that ainge would give the jets the best chance to win a playoff berth.
Clemens was a wasted pick. He never was good enough to be an NFL starter and recently proved he wasn't a backup one either. I'm glad he's in his final contract year. Eric Ainge showed more as a quality backup QB for the future.
Everyone does realize that we are 29th in pass yards per game and sanchez is 4th to last in INT's. I know hes our future and i am glad, but everyone is acting like we are going from a pro bowler to a high school kid. Clemens can't do any worse than sanchez has done some games
I don't think this has anything to do with showcasing Clemens. I think it has everything to do with facing a weak opponent and hoping to get Sanchez as healthy as possible for a tough stretch run.
Clemens would have to throw for 300+ yards in several games taking us at least to the second round of the playoffs while keeping INTs very low in order for some team to consider a 3rd round pick for him. It is not going to happen.
Yeah, Clemens really can do worse. Sanchez has had 4 really bad games in 12 starts. He's had 4 really good ones too and 4 that were ok. Clemens might be capable of the ok games against bad opponents but he's never going to have the good ones. Clemens is like the bottom two-thirds of Sanchez performance with little or no upside.
Showcase Clemens??? lol For what, the potential to be in showcase #1 or #2 on the Price is Right? In your showcase we have a 2010 Honda Civic, a trip to Japan, and some guy in a Jet jersey holding a clipboard. What's your bid??
