I've been saying that Jets should mostly run. But this morning, Mike Francesca said that Jets would be making a big mistake if we decide to run mostly today. He said the Jets need to make this a mostly a passing game to take advantage of Lions weak secondary. What do you think? Maybe a balance of both?

Pass to set up the run? Not sure....Lions have a good front line that can get after the passer (like our line). We might see a lot of screens today to keep their line honest.

It's called game planning. A good HC and OC have this thing orchestrated before the game even begins. Now for our team, one can only hope that there is an actual game plan.

Lions D similar to the Jets in some respects.
They are one of the best at stopping the run, but they have a suspect secondary.

    big test for our Oline..

Come out firing. We'll know from the first series if Geno is going to have a good game or not.

Lions are a dangerous team to get in a shootout with but I have confidence today.

    30-24 win.

What revitalized our bad running game last year was having Geno run out of the read option the last 4 games. His running opened up the run game and the passing game. IMO that threat is what is missing and what we need to do to open up what has been for the most part (excepting a few long runs) a very poor running game so far this year. That being said it will be very hard to run against the Lions as they have a very good run Defense. Geno needs to run some read options and he needs to run on passing downs when he sees nothing open.

My expectation from the comments by MM is Geno will be set up with quick passes where if his 1st 2 reads are not open he will tuck it and run or throw it away. Similar to what he did against the Raiders. When he tried to do too much against the Bears his mechanics broke down and he stopped stepping into throws which greatly hurt his accuracy. For Geno to be successful he needs to step into throws once he stops doing that everything else breaks down. He is not ready to be asked to do too much. This is why I think they will go back to the Raiders gameplan and simply the game and make it easier for Geno.
