Eric Mangini refused to say "no" when the Newark Star Ledger asked him about the Jets interest in pursuing Patriots #1 wideout Deion Branch. Many believe the Jets are in the top running for Branch, with the Eagles and Bills to follow.
HAHAH There is no way no how unless we over pay to the Nth degree. They are a division rival. I'm sure when Belicheck said he can shop a trade, he meant to the 28 teams NOT in his division, and preferably the 16 not in his conference.
No way they trade him inside the division. Would be nice though, I'd have no problem parting with one of our 2nd rounders for Branch.
Eagles can't afford him from what I understand. http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=10405&page=2
if we got branch, we would have a sick wr corps.....i just can't see us getting him for a price that would be worth it
Voting no. Good yards per play running. Good blocking pick ups. Better situational awareness at OL, QB, and RB. All would be better things to do.
I just don't think Belichick thinks that way. I think he looks at this solely as a matter of value. I'd be willing to bet he'd consider anyone as a trading partner if the deal was fair (in his mind). He traded Bledsoe to Buffalo (although he probably chuckles himself to sleep with that bit of thievery). Although it wasn't a trade, he also let Lawyer Milloy go when rumors were rampant that Milloy's agent had been talking with the Bills. I honestly think Belichick is arrogant enough to not care all that much about where his cast-offs go. That said, the rumor of a first round pick for Branch is probably less flexible for AFC East teams. Just my guess. And, anything in the first round for Deion Branch is just plain nuts. Incidentally, I also heard this morning that Hugh Douglas is "reporting" that the Patriots are looking for TWO first round picks. [sarcasm]I know Hugh's journalist skills have been forged in the Philadelphia firepit [/sarcasm], but I'm not so sure I buy that one.
Belichick will make the deal..... If we overpay * 2. The buffalo deal is just proof. A QB they did not want anymore netted them a #1. I think when he doesn't want someone (Milloy) he doesn't mind, but Branch is a good player.... Now, if we was going to deal with someone in the division, I'd think we'd be the top of that list simply because he doesn't see us as a threat.
Do we really want to part with a very high draft pick for another WR, given that Penny is probably the starter? I mean, we don't need Branch competing with Cotchery, Smith, McCareins and Coles for dinks and dunks. Now, if we're talking Clemens to Branch, now THAT's a whole other ball game! Deep threat, here we come. Hmmm....
Should we give up the asking price for Branch? Should we give up the asking price for Branch? I work with a die-hard patirat fan. (it's brutal) He read they will not accept less than a one. I think it's steep considering the chance of the Jets having a top 10 draft pick. Even with him.
He is a nice receiver who should take the current offer from the Pats and run. I wouldn't give up any draft picks for Deion Branch. While we may need to retool at receiver soon, he's not the type of receiver we need now.
If that's what they are asking, then they are not really looking to move him. Nobody would give up a #1 for him.
Dude we've been through this. There was a whole other thread on this. Not only should we not give up our number 1, but I wouldn't give a 2 considering the man is going to want top dollar. Top dollar as in he wouldn't even take 5 years 31 million which is sick money from the Pats. Whether you think this team is rebuilding or not his small but speedy game doesn't fit with Chad and the Jets, and would be held back in our offense much like Santana Moss was. He won't be a number 1 reciever here, yet the price in picks and money that we would have to give up would be adequate only for a real top tier guy. I say this without even mentioning the fact that I seriously doubt the Pats will trade him in division.
absolutely no way the pats are going to trade him to the jets.. it just wont happen. doesnt make sense for both teams.
