Looks like a good option, if the price is right http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...nald-leary-requests-trade-from-dallas-cowboys
I like the idea of upgrading at guard, but it would obviously depend on what the Cowboys wanted in return. Given the draft day deal they allegedly offered the Jets, they may not have a very realistic approach to trade scenarios!
I'd hope we're calling right now. Leary was apart of the line that turned Demarco Murray into a stud. Instant upgrade. If you're the Cowboys though he's an awesome depth player and if you're not getting a player for him, teams rarely will trade a player for a draft pick in next year's draft right after the current draft just took place.
I'd hope to get at least a mid to late round draft pick along with the deal. As a side bonus, it'd really annoy the Giants.
Why would anybody trade for mo when they get him in fa for nothing next year? Unless of course you think having him this year will win you a superbowl.
Jets are dealing from a surplus of talent at 5T/3T. Getting a good guard back would be one way to go, especially if the Jets thought they could lock Leary up to a decent deal that would keep him around until 30 and allow them to figure things out after that without a cap issue.
What am I missing? People are thinking it's a good move to trade Wilk for a backup guard who was a healthy game day scratch for the majority of 2015? I hope we would get more out of a Wilk trade than that.
He's good, actually, but he ended up losing his job to injury and a much hyped rookie, I remember him having a really good game against JJ Watt a couple years ago.
So you can actually get him rather than getting into a bidding war with all the other interested teams.
It sure would be nice to have known Sheldon's suspension situation this offseason, meanwhile Brady gets off free for an entire season, then his actual suspension announced at the beginning of the next NFL fiscal so the Pats can make any moves they need to fill the hole (not that they did anything). Leary would be a massive upgrade at right guard.
I am not at all in favor of trading Mo Wilk straight up for Leary. If a solid pick was coming with Leary that would change things. Doubt it would cost Mo anyway though as Cowboys will end up trading him for less than he is worth given the situation.
Jets couldn't trade Mo for just a solid pick, but you want solid pick + solid player... Yeah, that's realistic
Oh really? You know what took place in trade negotiations? You have no clue what took place in trade negotiations so to say they couldn't get a solid pick for Mo is pretty pointless.
But suggesting that Mo's true value is Solid player + solid pick is reasonable? Do YOU have intricate details of trade negotiations?
Yes I believe a 2nd round pick plus a back up G is a fair deal for Mo. Which is an opinion because no I do not have intricate details of trade negotiations. Chandler Jones was traded for a 2nd and a guard, I do not believe Mo should get any less.
