Most teams don't give their 3rd RB many carries unless he doubles as their 3rd down back, which Greene is definitely not. Also, most teams wont give carries to their rookie 3rd RB in the rain in a 1 score game, and will instead give carries to their veteran RB who almost never fumbles. So thats why Greene didnt play. He's a work in progress and will get some carries in a blowout soon enough.
I personally think once he starts to get carries hes gonna have some great performances, thomas jones goes down on the first hit 95% of the time. Greene is known for bouncing of tackles and i expect him to be great for us.
it's not hard to run as a rookie in the nfl, but you need to be able to block, so i'm sure they are hesitant to put him in for close games, for now
He's a third round pick and he plays a position that this already occupied by two better, proven players. He'll get his time, but that time won't come soon.
I'm going out on a limb and saying bust! Sarcasm. I would like to see him get some playing time though.
I think we wont really see him until we're comfortably ahead in a game. Rookie RB with a Rookie WR in a close game doesn't sound like a great idea. They need to play him sometime during the season though just to see if he could eventually replace TJ. We really need to find someone to replace TJ soon so if it isn't Greene, we'll need to draft someone else.
seriously, i was sopumped thinking we would deffinetly see him today... it would be great to have the best trio of backs in football today
Well if he hasn't played yet, it has to be for a reason. After 3 games, this coaching staff has definitely gained my trust as a fan. They must have a reason to be keeping him off the field. Maybe he is not 100% yet? Maybe he has not shown enough during practice to merit playing time? Maybe he is being saved for the second half of the season? Whatever the reason, I am sure it is a good one.
It makes sense that they would be saving him for later in the season. Thomas has been ineffective so far and if he a) doesn't pick it up or b) tires out, Greene gives them fresh legs for the 2nd half of the year.
