I listened to T.Dilfer on ESPN radio today and he made an interesting point that Shotty deserves a lot of credit to call pass plays early in the game to get Sanchez going and stick with it - even if does not work right from the start. To me that's very interesting as I share his opinion that is a rythm guy (he often starts slow but when he's finds his comfort he can maqke all the throws) Before the PATS game I started a thread that we needed Mark to get off to a fast start but in the discussion it was neved mentioned that this could be a process that might take a quarter (NE game) or even a half (Indy). I find this particularly relevant as the majority of fans prefers if we ran the ball even more and as fans we get impatient if Mark throws incompletions early on. Also I wonder if you guys agree that finding a rythm can take such a long time and if it outweighs the risk of us not scoring in the 1st quarter again. Discuss.
Hopefully Schotty has a good passing scheme for the Steelers because it going to be tough to run on them.
If Schotty called plays like he coached quarterbacks he'd be the best offensive coordinator in the league.
Bingo. I've said that he's a hell of a coach, but on gamedays he may not have the best plan in place. Not every week, but there are days where you almost smile in total bewilderment at what he's calling. Its gotten better again, as it seems to in January. Its really weird. He runs the ball and seems to give sanchez great calls in the 2nd half. But next week they are going to need at least 14 again if they want to keep up with the Steelers. Using the Ravens plan will help because it was working until the Ravens handed the ball over 4 times.
