for a blog that was a pretty good article.

i hate goodell. i am learning quickly how to really hate the nfl in general. i refuse to buy their products, i refuse to buy the nfl network or nfl package on dish. i just couldnt possibly be more sick of them all. and this is not simply lockout related, they have been money mongers for quite some time now and have turned me off long ago. its just nice that the farse that goodell is now, after a few years is being recognized by more people.

    Wow.

That article needs to be on the back page (Frankly, the front page) of every newspaper in the country and Internet sports site on the Web. That article, actually, pissed me off.
In less than 10 years, my season tickets have gone from $55 to sit in the lower bowl to the $105 I pay now. Oh yeah, I now sit in the 300s because me and my buddy refused to pay $20,000 for 2 PSLs we HAD to buy.
Do I mention the fact that not only do I have to pay $25 to park more than 20 minutes away from the stadium but the worst part being I need to have a fucking pass to get into a lot. Do I also mention you HAVE to take 2 preseason games and have parking passes to those games and also pay the EXACT SAME price.

These reasons are why (and not that I absolutely can't afford them, I can) I will not be sitting in the stadium come September, lockout or no lockout. If I am there it's because I've bought a ticket from one of my 2 buddies who now can almost never find enough people to buy their 6 tickets, 3 of them usually taken by the 2 of them and one of their dad's due to the high ticket price and money needed for food and liquids.
The good ol' NFL, always looking out for the sucke---uh, I mean fans.

Are you still going to follow the sport or will you eventually give up entirely on it?

I'm sick of the greed too, but I'm still going to watch the games.

The PSL stuff is horrible, but some of the smaller stuff is wrong as well. The Madden video games through the years had to compete with other NFL video games such as Joe Montana Football and NFL 2K4. Then Goodell came along, EA received exclusive rights to make their game, and now Madden has no competition and sucks. The Madden game was at its best in the 1990s when it had a lot of competition.

Another thing I really cannot stand is the static logos for the playoff games, the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowl. The Super Bowl 46 logo looks almost exactly like the Super Bowl 45 logo. The only difference is in the Roman numerals and the stadium behind the trophy. You can see them all here. There will no more unique Super Bowl logos for a good while.

That's why you have to keep buying 25$ bootleg jerseys from China.

Also, why is everyone pissed off? Companies do this shit everyday, using their finances as clout to gain opportunity the Everyman can't.

    Sucks.

I, myself, get pissed off because every year it's just a little more. They take, and they take, and EVERYTHING goes up in price, and now Goodell has the balls to tell fans he (and the entire league) gives a shit about any of us. Facts are facts, if we didn't go to the games and buy their products in the stores, they'd be playing in sandlots and the players and owners would be playing for pocket change. TV revenue would be a pipedream. We all know that ain't happening, hell, I don't want that to happen.
    But....
I first got into my partials in late '01, and my tickets went up every fucking season, I believe, except for 2, when finally they went up a full $25 each when they moved into the new Stadium. And....once upon a time, it cost 10 bucks to mosey into the parking lot. You didn't need a God damn pass to get in. You were rewarded with a great spot showing up early, not based on where you sit in the stadium. Those prices went up, which I can take, and then they maed us buy the passes in advance. Which....was fine because they were building the new stadium, which, ok, there's less space to park, so that makes sense. But, then I'm dumb enough, even if they do now charge 25, to think, "hey, I don't need a pass, I can just show up and pay when I get there."
Wrong, the NFL thinks, "hey, we've been making them pay in advance (whether or not they actually show up or not) for 3 seasons, they're used to it. Why change that?" So, you keep having to buy passes for all 10 home games, whether or not you go or you don't. Couldn't sell it on NFL Ticket Exchange...too fucking bad.
And like I previously stated, they wanted their extortion money to make us stay season tix holders, and when they couldn't sell enough PSLs, they called my buddy (who has had these tix since Shea) and offered him 300s for nothing. I guess some guaranteed money is better than none, right?
I'm a sucker, I have outlets to get tickets and I love the sport of football, and my mood for a couple of days is based on how the Jets do (sad, right?), but I've chosen to do something about it...
I won't do it (season tickets) anymore. I've been a fan since '82 (I was 5) and I scream my ever loving head off every play we're on defense for the 50-60 games I've been to over the past 10 years....well, now we'll see if the person who takes our seats can make as much noise as us.

Considering I've given the NFL and the Jets thousands and thousands of my money, I feel I'm well within my rights to be a little pissed off. Anyone who buys tickets or contributes to the kitty that is the NFL should be a little ticked off.
    Ok...lol...I'm done.

I agree w/ most of that except for the Steeler whining about the illegal hits. Sanchez was hit very late after he slid int he title game w/ no flag. Some of their guys are dirty and are headhunters and deserved to be fined.

Great rant against the owners, but the illegal hits part was stupid as hell. The author seems to imply that you have to either outlaw all contact in football or let everything go since these men are warriors.

one day i may stop watching it. i havent come to that point yet, its very hard to give up watching a game you really truely enjoy watching. i can say that i dont sweat it anymore if i cant watch the game. i also enjoy college football much more than pro and even enjoy high school and pop warner more and more every year.

its different watching kids who really just love to play, the talent isnt there but the effort usually is.

but giving up watching football at its highest level will be a tough pill to swallow. i may end up there one day, i hope i dont but it could happen.

i did stop watching hockey almost completely for about 10 years and really dont care about it at all at this point but will watch every now and again during the playoffs. so i wont say it will never happen. its as close to happening as it ever has been.

Check the history of America. The real story. This is the same bullshit that has been played against the people ever since this country was put together.

Everything is getting more expensive. I will never buy an authentic NFL jersey for example. I'd rather buy a bootleg knock-off jersey from china, or just stick to t-shirts.

Shit, even the NHL has become a rip off. You know that authentic NHL jerseys are now $300, and then to customize it is another $80. You can buy a nice designer leather jacket for that much, how the hell does a few pieces of mesh fabric cost more?!

And forget ticket prices... that's a whole other story. I'll stick to watching the games on TV.
