Sorry, Im just starting to realize what a weapon he will be on the field. It will open up so many holes in the opposing Ds, its hard to imagine how they'd react to it. Here's how the domino effect will fall through:

    1. Braylon is no longer covered by the #1 corner. Will not see as many double teaming. Him being a physical WR, he'll get a lot of YACs. Will become even more effective.

    2. Cotchery can now compete against the 3rd corner, something he excelled at initially. If the opposing teams double up on Santonio and Braylon, Cotchery can a few huge games.

    3. Again, if Braylon and Santonio are doubled, Keller will have several one on ones where he excels without a doubt. He can catch and he can run after the catch.

    4. 3 wide, 1 TE, and Tomlinson. How do teams cover a pass catching RB when they already have to face FOUR big time pass catchers? Chances are, we may not see a lot of 100-yards receiving performances. Even if Sanchez throws for 300 yards, it'll be divided amongst the 5 pass catchers. Tomlinson can very possibly be the biggest gainer with Holmes joining. How? If teams are covering four other players with two of them being doubled, Tomlinson goes one on one. If the ball is in his hands and he has one man to beat, my money is on Tomlinson. He will gain chunks of yardage almost everytime he touches the ball. Deadly!

    5. All these pass catching options will only help the running game. Maybe its the green blood in me, but I can't imagine how awesome this offense will become, especially after seeing how well we already are performing.

    6. If teams try to cheat up to stop the run, Sanchez needs to call an audible and let one sling to Holmes deep down. If safeties/corners back off to cover, Tomlinson will be "driving a car" through the holes.

    7. Brad Smith. He too will take advantage of Santonio, either by passing, or running the option.

    8. ONE PLAYER and the domino effect is huge. Im glad we have Santonio and I want all of our receiving corps back next year.

    9. Darrelle Revis. Yes, he doesn't have much to do with Santonio, but if our offense improves with Holmes, Darrelle will be tested more often than not and we all know who wins those battles.

    10. Pace. Just like how Revis gets an advantage, Pace will have his chances at pass rushing. Lets hope he is fit to play an entire game but isn't needed much.

How do the opposing teams stop us? I fear Slauson will be the one attacked more often now. Teams will blitz on us more often. But that can be beneficial for us too when we see all of our pass catching options going one on one. LT will be huge with his blocking abilities and then catching the quick pass screen.

I can not wait till Monday. Vikings have a good D. It'll be a good matchup, but I think we win that battle. We have an extremely strong run D (Fitzpat ruined our run D stats, but Im sure Favre can't run for more than 5 yards). We should be able to keep Adrian in check. I think we win this game relatively easily than most people think.

No difference for Braylon, he was drawing the #2 corner so far. Cotchery had the #1 most of the time. Vontae Davis shut down Jerrico Cotchery and Randy Moss in back to back weeks while his team was losing games they couldn't afford too. Welcome to the world of an NFL cornerback.

He should be a great addition but I worry about chemistry a tiny bit.

Either way, he won't get doubled as much. Teams can't double him and Santonio. If they do, their blitz becomes weak.

They were playing sides, not individuals.

I can tell you are trying to downplay Revis' significance in this post.

Moss was double teamed with Vontae, and dropped a TD pass he makes 99/100 times.

Revis would have solod him, freeing up another player.

I think teams just let Braylon go 1-on-1 most of the time anyway. You don't usually see a safety on that side when he catches a ball, only when he's about 10 yards down the field after the catch do they suddenly show up angling towards him. That's why he has gotten the long balls he's had this year.

Not to mention how this will make practices much more competitive.

    Santonio vs Revis

    Braylon vs Cromartie

    Wilson vs Cotchery

Maybe a safety is usually there and the times they aren't is when he gets the ball, making it seem like they are never there?

Dustin Keller getting covered by linebackers is going to be huge and maybe hillarious.

That's possible, given that Sanchez controls where the ball goes. Usually the simplest answer is the right one though, and that would be that teams aren't doubling Braylon very often. The Jets run enough that teams have to have safeties looking into the backfield before they head over to their coverage zone. I doubt that doubling any receiver other than Keller is really all that feasible in that situation most of the time.

Safeties aren't supposed to be playing with in 10 yards anyways. If Braylon goes one on one without safety help, Sanchez will bite.

If the simple answer is usually the right one, then answer this question.

Does the best CB in the NFL and arguably best defensive player in the NFL drastically improve a defense?

I really don't see how any team can match up against us defensivly.
I'm seeing a "Comeback Player Of The Year" in LT's future.

Just a grim reminder of what can befell a seemingly good team and derail an entire season.

^ I never wanna see those pictures again.

Cotchery has been going against the nickel corner pretty much every time we have gone 3 wide so far this year. He should have more room to work with both Santonio and Braylon out there but he won't be running around wide open all the time either.

What game do the Jets win this year with a drastically improved defense? Oh yeah, the one they lost with Revis on the field.

So this means Revis has no impact?

What if Revis was used in his normal role of covering the #1.

Boldin would have been ineffective. Boldin had over 100 yards on us.

In a 1 point game, yes, I think that is enough for a win.

BAD flashbacks!!! But really with all these weapons, Brunell could have a good game if needed. Im stayin positive though and stickin with the feeling that this is our year. Holmes returning will just open up the options across the board... should be fun to watch!!
