Sanchez Running

What do you think about Sanchez' running the ball?

  1. -I love it. We should gameplan around it, Sanchez should always fight for extra yardage.

    6.2%
  2. -It should be at his discretion. He should run whenever he sees yardage, and should fight for yards.

    37.7%
  3. -Sanchez should only run after he goes through his reads. He should ALWAYS slide or step out bounds.

    53.4%
  4. -I hate it. Sanchez should never run the ball, putting him in more danger is reckless and stupid.

What does everyone think about Sanchez deciding to run the ball more often? He took off around 5 times today, and he seems pretty light on his feet, actually.

My dad absolutely hates it, however. He thinks Sanchez is putting himself in unnecessary risk. It also seems that Sanchez doesn't know how to slide, haha.

Personally, I think he's a tough kid and can handle it. We shouldn't make a game plan around it, but if he sees a lot of green in front of him, he should feel free to take off and run for a first down, but SLIDE.

    What are your thoughts?

I like it. I means nothing is open and his athleticism can gain yards instead of him throwing the ball away.

He doesn't know how to slide. I really think this kid's competitive streak is his reason for not playing football the safe way. He's a Rex Ryan type of player.

If there is no LBs in sight, go for it. The minute they are 8 feet from you, get down motherfucker, get down.

Mark Sanchez has definitely proven that he CAN run. I really wish he'd take off more often - a lot of his INTs were forced balls. Those INTs wouldn't be there if Sanchez tucked the ball and used his feet.

feet first, laces up!! It's always better to have a QB that has the ability to make plays with his feet, so long as he doesn't have to rely on that. It's never a bad thing to force a defense to honor multiple talents

Just finished the poll. That 100 character per option thing is a bitch, haha.

This is an easy one: Mark Sanchez already has a knee problem. He should run when he has no choice and then he should make sure he gets down on the ground before the steamrollers show up.

Mobility is very valuable in a QB but staying healthy is priceless.

Run as a last resort or if there is a wide open lane. Always slide or run out of bounds.

The kid has tendinitis...it's not that big of a deal. I'm pretty sure every player in the league has some form of it.

Keep in mind this kid has made a lot of plays with his legs already.

We all remember that run into the endzone in the Tennessee game where he trucked a safety for a touchdown.

Sanchez is mobile, and he's had success throwing on the run. I don't think we should gameplan specifically for him scrambling around, but it's good to know if he has to he can scamper for a first.

As long as he protects the ball i have no problem with him running if he thinks that is his best option to move the ball.
I would prefer he not try and get that extra couple of yards and slide for protection but in the heat of battle i can't really fault him.
I'm much more concerned with Edwards carrying the ball like a fuckin loaf of bread! If i'm Rex i have a talk with BE about ball security like NOW!

Its nice having a quarterback that can get away from the rush when he has to and pick up a few yards on the ground with his feet if we need it.

    +1

this is the key right here......

Sanchez should run..he's got some wheels....but he needs to learn how to slide...before he gets himself killed out there.

I like seeing him run - he's got good vision and the ability to make plays. But, yeah, it would be nice if he stopped diving headfirst into linebackers and safeties.

I realize its important for him to learn how to slide but isn't is pretty comforting to see him take these hits and get back up each time. At least we know we don't have a pansy quarterback who can't take a hit.

i understand what you're saying...but taking hits will take a toll as time passes.

    He's a warrior...but i also don't want him to end up like a gimp....like Pennington.

That isn't comforting at all. You don't want your QB taking hit just to prove he's tough.. and, today watching him take that hit and limp to the bench was pretty damn unsettling.

Yes of course. I don't like seeing him take these hits either. Its just nice to see we have a qb who doesnt bruise as easily as Penny did.
