The kid has some great footwork. I do not remember seeing much smoother coming out of college. Further, he definitely has a nice arm and throws a good ball.

This is going to be fun.

I think the most underrated aspect of Sanchez is his ability to throw on the run. Looking back, Favre, Clemens, and Chad couldn't do this (most notably with Favre, he was a statue). He reminds me of Cutler, the way he rolls out and throws on the run (and its pretty accurate too). Also has a strong arm, though definitely not as strong as Stafford's. I don't see Clemens winning this QB competition.

favre with the packers could move and throw with ease.... when you're 38, its tougher.

Good point. But I still can't remember the last QB who could move around and make the throw. Maybe Ray Lucas? Sanchez seems to have good awareness in the pocket, and is able to make a run once in a while. Those occasional ten yard pickups on foot are kinda nice.

I was listening to the radio the other day and someone asked Dilfer about Sanchez, and the guy wouldn't shut up about MS's ability to create outside the pocket.

everyday some other former player gets a hard on for this kid....

is it really too good to be true? if he somehow fails, then 95% of the planet was wrong. Staffords more 65-35, which for a 1st overall pick isn't very good.

its gotta be youthful naivety, but i'm not accepting the fate of this franchise yet... if he's a Tim Couch bust, then i'll understand this franchise and accept what this culture is.

maybe this kid is going to change the culture, like Dungy did in Tampa with Sapp and Brooks.

great feet. I love it. Tight spiral to boot, but it is his feet I love! He can set real fast and change direction, that is why i think he is valued so high.

the above should tell us one major point here. the sanchez hype is getting overblown. stafford was regarded as the better qb by most analysts,by far, but because he's in detroit, he's not getting the hype that the big apple gets.
stafford played for a top notch sec program and played well for 3 seasons. sanchez on the other hand, with all the hype, has only been a one year wonder! he could end up being a good qb, but i'm not jumping on a one year wonder as the savior of this franchise yet.
he still has to prove it, and so far he's done nothing. but the new york hype machine is making him better than stafford and any other one year wonder that has ever come into the pro's..

its his personality and how he's handled the media so far that makes the New York community eat out of the palm of his hand. As of right now, who is cooler than Mark Sanchez? Not many, if any.

Stafford has a cannon for an arm, but his intangibles weren't praised all pre-draft. He could be another great armed QB who makes a tough transition in the NFL. But I hope the kid finally has Detroit winning again.

Tim Couch was a terrible pick at no. 1 overall. He just rode his high school hype and the Browns were suckers. Funny this g is they went back and forth between Couch and Akili Smith hahahaha
