Sanchez is (not) a dick! http://blogs.nfl.com/2011/03/09/jets-sanchez-assists-at-colorados-pro-day/?module=HP_headlines Colorado WR Scotty McKnight had a little boost Wednesday at the Buffaloes’ pro day that might have just helped him earn his way into the NFL. McKnight’s childhood friend, Jets QB Mark Sanchez, took part in the day’s events, throwing passes to McKnight during his official workout in front of representatives from 12 NFL teams. McKnight (5-foot-10 1/2, 182 pounds), who was not at the NFL Scouting Combine, ran 4.49 and 4.58 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 6.84 in the 3-cone drill and 4.04 in the short shuttle. He also had a 10-foot broad jump and 34-inch vertical to go with 13 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. Now, all those numbers are OK. But the fact that Sanchez was there to help McKnight during his workout just might sneak him into the NFL as a seventh-rounder. McKnight’s a good receiver, and catching passes from Sanchez only made him look better.
very cool of sanchez to take a trip to help out a friend. its not often these days that you see someone do something for someone just because they are a friend and dont want anything in return for it. that said this guy is little and slow and i am pretty confident wont get drafted, but still a cool move by sanchez.... see i really dont hate the guy!
Average 40 is 4.55 and his shuttle is good. 3 cone needs work. It'd be a nice story to see him get drafted. If not, and there is a new CBA, he'd probably come here as a UDFA.
woodhead was alot faster than that. 4.33 to 4.38 chrebet was 4.53.... i will have to check and see if he is white, or maybe i will post a picture of him here and ask everyone waht they think! had me laughing with lawrence taylor!
40 times are such an over-rated stat in my book. Have everyone run a 40-yard dash in full pads with a corner jamming them off the line. Then we'll see what's what and who's who.
Haha, I knew who they were talking about before clicking the thread. Scotty and Mark have been friend's since Trabuco Mesa Elementary, and he's a hell of a kid. Great move for Mark to go help him out and at least try to get him a TC invite.
PFT's obsession with all things Jets continues Mark Sanchez says Scotty McKnight will be “a steal” We were intrigued by the news that Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez made an appearance at the Colorado Pro Day workout, so that he could throw the ball to boyhood friend and former Buffaloes receiver Scotty McKnight. So we decided to talk to Sanchez about McKnight, and about their friendship. Sanchez told PFT by phone that they’ve been friends since grade school. They were ball boys at Santa Margarita High School when Carson Palmer played quarterback there, and they have worked out with Bob Johnson. They played at different high schools and colleges, but Sanchez and McKnight and their families have remained close. McKnight’s current goal is to join Sanchez at the NFL level. “He’s the best guy who didn’t go to the Combine,” Sanchez said regarding McKnight. “He didn’t drop a ball [at the Pro Day workout]. He’d be a steal for someone.” McKnight ran a speedy 4.46 and 4.48 in the 40-yard dash. (If the surface is perceived to be a fast one, scouts likely will add time to the number.) Gil Brandt of NFL.com thinks that Sanchez’s involvement at the Pro Day workout could get McKnight, a walk-on who became the Buffaloes all-time receiving leader, picked in round seven. And we’ve got a feeling that Sanchez’s current team could be interested in giving the quarterback a weapon with whom he feels incredibly comfortable. Presumably comfortable enough to wipe a booger on his coat.
