I know, I know, it's only the first PS game but did Sanchez leave any doubt as to who the better QB is? That first pass was a thing of beauty for so many reasons. First and foremost he didn't stare down the route. In fact he did what great QBs do, he looked off the route. The throw was right on the money, in stride (nice catch by twit too). And really what makes the difference between these two guys is Kellen just waits too long for things to develop. Clemens didn't look horrible, but there's just a difference in tempo and attitude between the two. It's pretty damn impressive when a kid with 16 collegiate starts is backed down close to his GL on his very first NFL down, has the OC call that fackin' play in and delivers it like a seasoned vet. Clemens on the other hand looks like he's on valium - other than him ducking that sack. That was awesome. Just let the kid play.
Yeah all the hype is disgusting at times, for sure. Boomer was on the sideline gushing over him. But ya know what? They may be right. I'm not going to lie that I'm biased against KC, but only because I've seen him play and its not going to get much better. But trust me, if the choice were between KC and Ainge, I'd still want KC.
Clemens difficulties appear to be about 90% approach to the game and 10% mechanics. He really does have a chance to put it all together at some point and be a fine QB. He just hasn't done that in four attempts now so you have to wonder if the mental blocks are too high for him to get over at this point.
I'm fine with the gushing. But taking a call from Pete Carroll in the middle of the game for his insight on Sanchez? And the fact that the camera would not leave Sanchez on the sidelines? Way overboard.
I was at the game last night and with my seats being sec 111 2nd row behind the Jets bench i get to see not only the on filed play, but also the sideline stuff. The things i loved about Sanchez on the field was his poise. He wasn't overly excited like most rookies. He conducted himself like a veteran. On the sideline he was really into the game. Constantly stranding up on the bench watching the team on field as well as being the first one slapping hands as they ran off field. He was always around Clemens, Ainge or the coaching staff and seemed to be hungry for what happened and why it happened. I think this kids really got what it takes. I don't say this because he completed his first pass for 48 yds, i say this because he has the poise, pocket presence, and hunger to be the best. WE HAVE A WINNER!
That's bad. I only watched the game into Ainge's first drive and it was on the NFL network, so I'm not sure we had the same broadcast, or I missed it. But yeah the camera was on Sanchez a lot. Calling up Pete Carroll is pretty ridiculous and mostly even useless.
Sanchez was the reason the game was shown outside of NY and St Louis or else I wouldn't have been able to watch it. The NFL and the networks need to talk up the best and most popular players since it's still a business and it's about the ratings. Not saying that Sanchez is going to be the next Peyton Manning for sure but so far so good.
It was an impressive series for Sanchez, but it was one series in the preseason. There will be bad games, bad passes as well, we'll see how he recovers from those. That will tell how good he'll be. Also how he responds after someone knocks his block off the first time. No doubt he'll be the starter though. Ryan has all but said it out loud in the pressers. Anytime he's asked about who the starter will be, Sanchez is always the first mentioned, and Clemens is mentioned second, and usually referred to as "Ok as well".

lets not go apeshit over 4 pass attempts. he played well, he had a fairly big play. he checked down to his secondary reads well. he isnt johnny unitas yet as much as everyone wants him to be. hopefully he gets a few more reps next week. he needs reps badly if they have any plans to have him start the season.
That was hilarious. I would have laughed my ass off at him if I was on the opposing defense...until he lit me up for 48 yards.
Can we cast a ballot for Canton yet? Jesus. Relax. We'll know what we have at QB after week 2 of the regular season.
