Think of the first half of last year. Remember how we were near the top of the league in total sacks for weeks, so many of us thought our pass rush was good enough to get the job done? Compare the pass rush we had last year to what we have now. Now, we have a real pass rush. It's Not even close, right? Do we all see how the number of sacks a defense has is perhaps the most overrated, overhyped, and overused statistic in football?

I agree. At the time I went with the numbers. But this year it is consistent pressure forcing the offense to make a decision. Brady was under fire almost every play. I wil take 20 pressures over 4 sacks anyday.

All defensive stats don't mean anything besides points allowed.

I was looking all year for a site that would give me stats for pressures and/or QB knockdowns. Can't find one.

Like the folks above me have said, sacks can be a flukey total, but overall pressures, hits, and knockdowns tell a much more complete story.

sacks can be overrated. while we were at the top at sacks at some point last year we didn't get any consistent pressure.

we have 2 sacks in 2 games yet the QB's have been under pressure like I've never seen before. shaub is one of the toughest QB's to sack because he gets rid of the ball and Brady is Brady so the sacks will come but the pressure is almost as good as a sack.

Right. Brady would have been sacked on just about all of those pressures, but he was smart enough to get rid of it rather than take the sack and loss of yards.

Im looking at the big "0" for Offensive TD's we have given up through 2 games. Pats are always good for putting points up late in the games and watching what the Texans did to the Titans today tells me we have one hell of a defense!
