Rank 13 up 4 spots, Previous rank: No. 17 ( original ranking at the start of 2022 season... 32nd) New York Jets 4-2 The Jets went to Lambeau Field and secured their biggest win in years. The 27-10 beatdown of the Packers was stunning in how easy it felt for New York, a former doormat that entered the season with the NFL’s longest postseason drought at 11 years. Robert Saleh’s young playmakers impacted the game at every level: Sauce Gardner was a constant menace in the secondary, Breece Hall went for more than 100 yards on the ground with the clinching touchdown run, while Quinnen Williams and a surging front four punished Aaron Rodgers and lived in the backfield all afternoon. When it was over, Gardner jogged around Lambeau wearing a Cheesehead -- an act of defiance and a message to the league: The Baby Jets have arrived. Russell Wilson may be out for Jet game: Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson played through a hamstring injury in Monday night’s overtime loss to the Chargers and he’s headed for tests on Tuesday to find out what impact it will have on his availability. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Wilson will have an MRI on the hamstring on Tuesday. Wilson said after the game that the injury “got me pretty good in the fourth quarter,” but he remained in the game through its conclusion. Pelissero added that there is concern it could be a “pretty significant” injury, so Wilson may not be able to go against the Jets this week.
Thanks for posting. Tough for Russel. I rather play them full force to see where we stand and avoid a myriad of unnecessary added excuses if we win or a flood of negativity like we played a back up QB blah, blah, blah if we loose. Their strength in any event is their D and we must overcome the challenge.
Well If Russell is out that certainly changes things in the Jets favor. I would imagine that would change the line from Denver -3 to a pick ‘em or maybe even a slight Jets favorite. Whoever is betting Jets should put it in now… I still expect a low scoring game regardless …
Given how abysmal they look week in and week out, you almost have to wonder if the Broncos are better off with someone else playing QB.
almost half a billion dollars between watson and wilson this offseason and watson hasn't played yet and won't play another 6 games and wilson has been awful
Was thinking the same thing. Moral is low on that team and for that Russ Wilson. Rypien might actually give them a Mike Whitish spark. Come on Russ, tough it out for one more week pussy. On a serious note, I guess we can look forward to 5-2????
Not for that money it wouldn't. Many heads will roll from management to the current/future coaching staffs before the Broncos pull the plug on the Russell Wilson Experience. It's just to much guaranteed money at $165 million. The new owners will demand that it works some how.
I didn't say that they were going to actually bench him. But since there's the possibility that he's going to miss some time due to injury, it's not unreasonable to think that the team might be better off in his absence because he's been playing so poorly. But, you're right, he's making far too much money for Hackett or anyone above him to pull the plug just six games into the season.
I figured you meant for the time being and all so excuse me for not implying it better in my prior post. Normally I wouldn't disagree, but without a legit Teddy Bridgewater like backup what other choice do they have outside of injury. But Russ Wilson's play has definitely warranted him a benching for sure.
It's funny, I don't even know who their backup is, but I bet they wish they had someone like Teddy Bridgewater around at the moment. I assume it's the Rypien kid, but only because I saw someone mention him in a post earlier. Whoever it is, though, maybe just having someone come in and just be a competent game manager who can complete a handful of throws and then turn around and hand the ball off is what they need right now. They're scoring so few points these days that I have a hard time believing that Rypien, even if he's not that great, would be so incompetent that he couldn't put up at least similar point totals as Wilson has been.
