What is truly sad is he is not even remotely close to being worth it.

  3. No Dt is....That said he HAS been our best lineman despite playing out of position.

I am not saying he isn't good. You are right. The 11.5 is sad though.

That's what you get for paying top 5 pick money.

No players that high are worth the money.

You guys say he isn't worth the money, imagine he was a true bust and was out of the NFL by his 3rd year?

What I do agree with is that you have to destroy to rebuild , and the key word here , properly.
The Jets for as long as I can remember have at best just been ordinary and never really been a serious threat.
Whilst this is a good thing , they (Mangini/Tannenbaum) are putting their jobs on the line.

His cap # is going to make D'Rob impossible to trade. No club is going to take on nearly $11M of their cap for up to now has been a very mediocre DT.

A bash DRob thread. Paging HackettStillSux, you're needed in the NYJ thread.

It's a backloaded contract, and this is the last year of it. I wonder if we cut him.

I think that it seems that Roberston would be more worth that in the 4-3 but he is a total waste of money I'd love to dump him

He's going to cost his new team 6.8 million against the cap. He'll cost the Jets 4.4 million as they will have to accelerate his option bonus and pay it out before they can trade him.

If they can find a team to take him for reasonable compensation it's probably a good move if they are staying in a 3-4. If they move to a 4-3 in the next couple of years it will screw us to hell and back because he's a decent 4-3 lineman.

sad part is, he'll probably go to a team that puts him at his natural position, and he'll excel. i could never understand why we always try and fit square pegs in round holes?

That depends on thier relationship with woody and the timeline they gave him at the start of this process. If they told him three years all signs point to trouble, if he bought off on 4 or 5 they have some slack left on the noose.

The big sign will be what we are able to do this off season with the O-line, if it remains largely unchanged again, then things will continue to look bleak no matter whom else we sign/draft.

he'll never "excel" anywhere. Even when he played the 4-3 for the jets he was above average at best. He parlayed a huge combine into a maximum contract. Thanks to Boobway.

The great news is that we save 6.8M to get rid of him. This is why I wanted to sign Grady Jackson as a 'hold the fort' guy. We would not be so desperate if we had Grady and Pouha on the roster. We could take a shot at one of the bigger NT prospects in the draft.
