'They haven't won anything' yet, as Saleh is fond of saying. But, this coach has done an amazing job of preparing this team each week. He has them playing disciplined and focused. It's uncanny to see these young guys who are so determined to win. Whether they are parroting their coach or not they say the right things. You can see it in their eyes, they want to get to that next level. After the Ravens loss it looked grim, the same old Jets fears were flooding back. It certainly seemed like Saleh was unaware that the team needs to start performing fast and the honeymoon period of 4-13 was history. But, this coach galvanized his team, he took the slings and arrows when they underperformed with his now famous "Receipts" speech. The Jets are closers now. When has that ever happened? How many times in years past have we witnessed a potential victory go down the drain with sloppy play as the minutes tick away. The Jets have scored the most 4th quarter points than any team in the league. The team respects him and they play hard for him every down, every game every week. It's a thrilling time to be a Jets fan. Robert Saleh has been the even keel that has finally righted this Jets ship. Go Jets.
Saleh is OK. But he's got a long way to go before he passes the great Jeff Ulbrich. Our confidence in him has never even slightly wavered since he got here.
I think he's a good coach. Certainly the best since Parcells, but he hasn't won anything yet. Some break pumping is on order.
LoL, wake me up when he wins a Superbowl, or even gets the team to the playoffs, Jesus layoff the Kool aid
Sure, I understand he hasn't taken them to the promised land yet. But, I've been impressed by how these young players have bought in and are so determined to continue striving. They are not letting these victories go to their heads. They are speaking like seasoned veterans and that in part is due to the coach.
I thought Rex was good, until he became a caricature of himself. I wouldn't put Saleh near Rex yet. That said, nobody will ever come close to Charlie Winner, or Lou Holz... man, what Jets fans have had to deal with. I often wonder, if it's better to have experienced Supe III, & been shutout since, or to have never had the experience?
While I think Saleh plays a part in the team culture, those younguns had that stuff in them b4 becoming Jets. JD & his scouting team, deserves the most credit in assembling a bunch of talented, team-oriented kids. The buy-in to me, is their buy-in to each other... having each other's backs. Saleh hinted something of similar affect today, in his presser. Can't remember the exact quote, though.
I don’t know about all that but I sure hope so. He’s certainly looking like he could be here long enough to prove whether he is or not. He is well spoken, inspiring and seems like a great leader of men. Most importantly the team has seemed to bought in big time and as a long time Jets fan it’s refreshing af to watch.
Sure, this rookie class is truly remarkable. Absolutely agree that Douglas has done an incomparable job of assembling a group of high character, dedicated players. But, someone has to stir the brew. You can have a bunch of talented musicians but, without a conductor it's just a lot of noise. So far the music coming out of Met Life is fairly symphonic.
Dear Lord, he hasn't even gotten to Rex levels let alone Parcells or Ewbank. Anything's possible, but pump the brakes here (and ease up on the gas too).
I got a little carried away with the thread title. There has been such a retinue of less than inspiring helmsmen in recent years, it's refreshing to watch this coach guide these young bucks and change the culture around this team.
