Hey Jets fans. First of all congratulations on making it this far you are representing NY/NJ very well and its nice to see one of the teams here do well. That being said I seem to have come across various Giants and Jets fans who despise each other and I can't figure it out. There is no rivalry in my mind but I figured I would ask what you guys thought. Good luck against the Colts it should be a great game.
There are some good Giant fans, but a majority of the Giant fans I know are whiney little bitches who scoff when anything Jet related comes up; they act like we're an inferior team or something. I think that may be a major reason why there is this supposed rivalry between Giant and Jet fans, and, yes, it is due to this same reason that their hearts burn with jealousy/envy/asshatery when they think about how the Jets are in the AFCG and how their team is at home after a dismal end to a disappointingly mediocre season.
I don't mind the Giants, I just hate a bunch of Giants fans I know talk a lot and know nothing about football. Them beating the Patriots made me love them for months.
I'm obviously referring exclusively to this year buddy. The Giants were the 07 NFL Champs? Whoa. No need bringing up things everyone already knows.
Well, I don't think the Giants fans are 'jealous' of the NYJ we haven't won anything yet. The reason some Giants and Jets fans beef is because a lot of Giants fans view the Jets as second class citizens with the whole sharing their stadium and all that shit. Hopefully that mentality is put to rest at the New Meadowlands Stadium (which I'm pumped about).
The inverse of that statement is the reason that I have a problem with a lot of Jets' fans. There seem to be a veritable legion of "fans" that come out of the woodwork when the Jets go on a run and, to be blunt, they're a bunch of obnoxious assholes. When a fan comes to me and brags about his team doing well as though it were some personal accomplishment on his part whilst also insinuating that the Jets being successful is a possibility I have feared for years, I'm going to get pissed off and blast his team. Winning brings out the worst in each fanbase. Giants' fans act like arrogant pricks when their team is doing well while Jets' fans act like obnoxious assholes when their team is doing well. I'm really interested to see what other comments come up on this thread, fwiw.
I guess it depends on how many friends you have on the 'other side' and how many ballbusters you know. For me I have more friends that are Giants fans than ballbusters, so I don't really root against them per se, at least not since the earlier part of this decade when they had blowhards like Strahan, Tiki and Shockey. And a lot of them have been supporting us during the playoffs. Besides, I never found the Giants as a blood rival the way I do the Yankees as a Met fan or the Rangers as a Devil fan. I mean the Rangers and the Devils are division rivals who have met in multiple playoff series. Mets-Yankees never used to be that strong until interleague came around with six games a season and the Subway Series in 2000 and coincidentally that's when the Yankees became a juggernaut again so that upped the resentment factor. We play the Giants once every four years. Heck, a lot of times I'll root against the Cowboys before the Giants, talk about a bandwagon fanbase that's all over the country and they get national attention even as they get spanked year after year at the end of every season.
I never liked the Giants but I really started to hate them around the time of the Eli draft fiasco and with Strahan and Tiki making asses out of themselves weekly running their mouths. With those 2 gone I find myself hating them less but I still root against them because watching Eli flounder and make stupid faces is always fun.
Considering you were pulling for the Patriots to win it all in 2007, I find it difficult to believe you are a Jets' fan and neigh-impossible to take any of your opinions on football seriously. Good day, sir.
There is no real rivalry between the Jets and Giants. I don't mind the Giants at all and usually root for them to win. Until I run into the retarted Giants fans that still think it's 2007, and think their team is the real shit.
I never became a Giants fan, don't know where you are getting this from..I'm shocked some people actually thought I was serious in that thread
So were you serious then, or serious now? Just stop posting and lay low, the wolves will be circling shortly. You said it, and it lives on.
Pretty much indifferent to the Giants....... I never liked Eli after his draft cry-baby stuff, but any ill-will towards the Giants pretty much went away when they ruined the PATS perfect season.
