I don't expect youngins to remember but this guy was the Paul Simon of his time. Made songs that lifted you up and left you in a good mood all day.. Lyrics you had no trouble remembering.. A loss for my generation for sure..
He was a true great. The unusual chord progressions in his music set it apart from most pop music. His collaboration with lyricist Hal David and singer Dionne Warwick was one for the ages, with Bacharach and David deservedly being awarded the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song in 2012. He personified a certain brand of cool in the 60s, which was then revived in the late 90s by Mike Myers in the Austin Powers movies. Two of my favorite versions of my two favorite Bacharach-David songs: RIP.
I am only 34 so it's before my time but I'm a huge Austin powers fan so I have at least heard him. Sent from my SM-F926U using Tapatalk
Many, many singers and groups covered his songs... The Beach Boys - Walk On By (Stereo Extended Mix) - YouTube
You are dating yourself by calling people who don't know who this is "youngins," but I am flattered. RIP Burt
