Listen everyone sort of knew it was coming because of Rex's track record for late game defensive collapses after looking brilliant for 58 minutes.

And yes the line was brilliant in how they bottled up Martin. We even got to Freeman a few times. This is a better D-line than 2009. I'm astounded at how they absolutely rag dolled the Bucs offensive tackles. Martin had no gaps, no lanes...nothing to the outside. It was a sea of white.

On the Vincent Jackson play...yes a tackle was missed by Landry...but there was already a 1st down gained by then. And yes the Buc kicker still needed to make the damn kick but it's still just a glaring lack of situational understanding. You can sell out if it's the 1st quarter on that play, but how the hell do you sell out on a game deciding down where they only need a field goal. All Freeman had to do was lob it over the middle. And he had an easy 12. Guy whiffs and it's an easy 40.

Let them get something underneath and make the 4th and 3-4-5...whatever.

It's a win, but Rex is like that ace pitcher who implodes out of nowhere just when you need a big out.

Actually the biggest problem I had with Rex was - once again - TIME MANAGEMENT. They wasted like a combined fifteen seconds on the last Tampa drive (both on first down and on third down) debating whether to call a timeout or not. Those fifteen seconds could have been huge if not for David's stupidity.

But saying a tackle was missed by Landry is underselling just how bad that play was. You had him tackled at the 50, MAKE FREEMAN HAVE TO COMPLETE ANOTHER TWO PASSES TO GET INTO SCORING RANGE! Instead he gives him 25 freaking yards going for a hit in the open field and the Jets have to use all their timeouts.

That blitz call on 3rd and 10 was a terrible call, they read that shit all the way just like they did all game.

Wait until Coples comes back. our pass rush was impressive today I can't wait to see it going forward. I wish he'd be healthy for Thursday but week 3 is more likely.

from the last drive of the bucs on..this was a very ending for Rex. How you blitz the guy on Jackson at the line of scrimmage is beyond belief. The of course the timeouts...its almost like he is all in on the defense and has thrown in the towel on the rest of the game.

Brutal...but we won so lets just go up there next Thursday and see if we can pull off a bit of a miracle.

The player was there to make a play though. Freeman got shook a lot that game, I liked the call and Freeman executed it better than expected. Landry was there for the play too.

What I don't like is the seconds that slipped away when TB had the ball. I'm not sure what happened there that nobody tried to called a TO.

It was a terrible blitz call on 3rd and 10, but looking at the big picture, the D kept us in the game when the O couldn't do shit. I'm pissed they couldn't close it out, its a disturbing trend. Can't call that overload blitz so often they have hot routes for it.

Apparently the time out delay was because the refs did not hear it. Saw one of the beat writers tweet about how rex was calling the time out but they didn't get to it until someone got his attention.

To be fair, if Landry makes the tackle, TB (maybe) doesn't get in position to hit the FG.

The time management, however, was appalling. I just didn't get it. There's no reason NOT to call a TO the second Martin was tackled, not once, but TWICE.

it we continued to play soft all the way down the field people complain. If he plays tough with a blitz, people complain. I liked the call, but Landry whiffed on the takle, although it was a nice spin by Jackson.

applause though for Demario DAvis for running him down, saving the TD and giving us a chance to win it.

Everybody knows Rex is the greatest HC the Jets have ever had so how dare you question his playcalling..

    The D line played great.

Idk about the blitz call. I don't love it but I don't hate it. The pressure was working late in the game so its tough to ding Rex for that. If Lankster is in a little better position, there is prob a thread about how great a call it was. I was more ticked about the no call on the hold on the big run play before that.

rex is trying to bring back the take-no-prisoners blitz-on-every-down wild defense vibe. it didn't work in that case but he is setting a tone. it's risky, but i'd rather they go down swinging than play a prevent. totally understand what you're saying, but i like the jets defense throwing caution to the wind, so to speak.
