Lets face it we all have favorites and guys we like on our team. But Rex Ryan just dont give a dam and hes cleaning house like Parcells did. Out with the old and with the new. Who else could be cut by the time free agent signing begins. I dont see Mike Nugent coming back or Eric Barton as we speak.
I agree with the 2 player predictions but I wouldn't say Rex is cleaning house. He's just getting rid of the players that held us back last year to make room (in cap and in roster space) for the improvement that is about to be signed in the next 2 months and 1 week time frame.
I predict more house cleaning coming our way. Rex Ryan is doing what Eric Mangini didnt have the balls to do.
I don't believe Rex is "Cleaning House", he's just getting rid of some marginal players that cost too much to the Cap or have a crazy roster bonus coming due. It's called smart economics. I believe Tanny has a big part in determing who's worth the coin and who's a goner.
Moore shouldn't go. He's at LEAST the league average for his position, and valuable as a leader. It would be stupid to get a slightly better Guard and sacrifice the chemistry that was built this year.
The Jets need to keep Eric Barton for depth if nothing else. I'm sure our group of back up LBs are among the two or three worst in the league. Barton can play several positions, having him on the bench would help. The bench guys right now either young development projects or guys who are lucky to be in the NFL at all. Or maybe both.
I agree with your decision making, reading what I write on a sports forum is all you have to do on a Friday night. When your busy paying off those student loans you will surely look back and say you made the most of your time in college.
If people are getting cut because of roster bonuses then you have no one to blame but our simple minded GM, the so-called cap specialist. Every year it's the same thing with him. We have cap problems and his answer is to cut people. I can't believe people buy into this shit but then again maybe I do.
I totally agree. Get rid of the dead wood but Moore is by no means dead wood. What we need is continuity, especially on the O-line.
Actually, it wouldn't be Ryan cleaning house, it would be Tannenbaum. Everybody in the Jets organization including Ryan, Tannenbaum and Johnson have all said on multiple occassons that Tannenbaum has the final say on ALL personnel decisions. I don't like it, I don't agree with it but that is the way it is.
I totally agree, this is a Pete Kendal scenario the Jets play hardball with him, cut him or trade him and loose a years worth of production from the running game because the guy they thought they could replace is not easily replaceable. But I will not put the cart before the horse I will wait and see what the final product on the field is before I get fired up.
How is this the Pete Kendall scenario? They never expected to give Moore a $7 million roster bonus it was always going to be converted into a signing bonus or he would be cut. The only way he will get cut is if his agent tells the Jets they won't let them convert it into a signing bonus so that Moore can be a free agent. If that's the case then the Jets should cut him.
He might have final say but he has excellent football people around him that I'm sure are heavily involved in any personnel decision. I doubt Tannenbaum is sitting in a room by himself making these decisions. So far they've cut Barrett, Bowens, Kassel and Baker. Bowens at $2 million for a backup linebacker is insane and Bakers agent got him cut. He pushed the Jets last off season to give him that strange extension. The contract was basically structured so that Baker could test free agency. I'll take Baker and Bowens back after they test free agency and realize they both have limitations.
