"One of the highest players" he didn't say highest

Schefter pretty much said that the Jets and Revis may begin talks of extending his contract to make him one of the highest paid players in NFL history.

He has played GREAT. And he can also send a quick "thanks" to Asomugha on the field since Davis threw him that monstrous deal.

Yeah that Ashomuga deal is a pain in the ass for us (thank you crazy old man Al).

Anyways I'mm all for re-signing him and our other starters in this off-season... let's get that big bonus out of the way :).

PS. Do you think that Woody will use lot's of $$$ to re-sign our stars in the hope of selling more PSLs?

Supposedly he'll get around 6 years 80-85 mill front loaded... That's about 14 mill a year...

Because we don't want a guy like him to come close to hitting the open market, or demanding a new deal a few years before his present deal expires.

Norv Turner was very impressed with Revis this week

ESPN said "Derrelle" Revis at the bottom of the screen, and Suzy Kolber said "Quarterback Darrelle Revis"

Yup. Give him what he wants. He might end up being one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history.

Saw this coming. Clements got $80million/8years three years ago. The market has been climbing steadily for corners. Oh well, he's still averaging less than Asomugha and unlike Clements, he's worth it.

He is not only the greatest cornerback in the league and the human embodiment of the divine on earth, he also has stepped up as a vocal team leader.

As long as he continues on this path, I see no reason to give him whatever he wants. He is not the type of player that will sit back and rest on his laurels and/or collect checks. We need this guy around for the long haul.

As to why now, I have a feeling we're gonna be paying some huge bonuses out during the uncapped year, rather than spreading them over capped seasons. Tanny knows what he is doing. It is win-win, as the players will get boatloads of cash up front, and we will get our best guys locked in for the prime of their careers. With, hopefully, minimal cap implications.

Pay him now in an uncapped season and get it over with. The Jets have a lot of salary issues they can resolve during an uncapped year if Mr Johnson is willing to hand Tanny the Jets ATM card...

He is the Ray Lewis of the Jets.

Its fair to say young kids and college players and defense will look up to him
