So I was in the market to find a dog under the strict list of breeds and age... yada yada yada until I went to the Humane Society. That list... breed, age completely went out the window. Seeing about 40 dogs waiting for a new home completely changed my outlook toward paying some private breeder hundreds of dollars from their cash cow so that they benefit while these dogs are caged up and perfectly adoptable. I highly suggest anyone in the market for a new pup, go check out your local Humane Society/ASPCA and see what they have available there first. I will bet your mind changes the second you step food inside. Never in my life did I think I would get a Pitbull (shes a mix). She is fixed, shots up to date, been to the vet for a check up and shes 8 months old. Here she is: So the real reason for this thread... What the hell should I name her that can tie into the Jets?! Haha
Kudos to you. You have done a great job by picking the puppy out of a rescue center. I don't have any name related with Jets. Just wanted to thank you for saving a puppy.
great job man...Thats what I would do too...Told my fiance the same thing and everyone else...Rescue a dog, those breeded dogs will always find a home
be prepared....she is gonna hump ur leg to no end.... i tell my wife the horniest thing in the house is our female dog.
I agree with the humane society vs breeder approach. Or just any kind of rescue center. I have a co-worker who gets her dogs from a greyhound rescue that deals exclusively with retired racing dogs. Most are done racing by like three or four years old or earlier if they are injured. We don't have a dog yet but my wife volunteers at a humane society near our house on the weekend and I'm always a little bit shocked (and relieved to be honest) when she doesn't come home with a dog. But when we do get one it will 100% be from that humane society.
My wife and I rescued two pitbull mixes from the local pound. They are sweetest, kindest dogs I've ever come across. Just a couple of babies. Thanks for rescuing a dog and giving him a forever home. Thanks for taking a chance on a pit.
Good job, all my dogs have been from the Humane Society. Don't forget the gear, she needs to be attired correctly. If it was a male I would go old school with a name like Titan but I generally just keep the name Humane Society gave them. Figure it is one less little thing to worry about as they are getting house trained.
Rescuing a dog is the best. We just got our first one this last summer and he's awesome. Meet Philip J. Fry, or Fry for short. For those who only want a specific breed or age or whatever, find an adoption event and just try not to leave with a dog. The range of ages and breeds is a lot bigger than people think.
